Being stuck in a circus-like program and unable to get out is already freaking Pomni out. But now her hand spontaneously glitches and grants her a rather unusual ability? Even more so. But with access to pretty much the whole digital world at her fi...
The Digital Circus is nowhere in view, as the only thing to be seen even remotely close is a lit computer screen. At the computer, there sits a man in rather business attire typing away, bags under his eyes and unkempt brown hair match his five o'clock shadow as he types away before speaking.
Man: You sure this is an ACTUAL lead this time, Rhodes? We've had some before, but they all lead to bupkis.
Just then, a woman speaks up, this one's voice being one we've heard before as now we finally have a face to the voice. The voice now came from a tall and curved, even slightly rounded, Spanish woman. Her tan skin coinciding well with her long black hair, onyx gray eyes, and her detective wear of a dress shirt and skirt bottom.
Rhodes: I'm telling you, it's real! Look at the message here, that picture is too realistic to JUST be a drawing. It looks like a damn photograph!
Man: Really?... A 3D CARTOON jester girl looks realistic to you? You've been drinking too much again?
Rhodes: Look, Cosgrove, I know we've had our fair share of disputes, but I'm close to something. I know it and even you know it. Corporate doesn't even know we're doing this! I mean, why even agree to help if you didn't trust me?
Cosgrove: Cus I'm saddled with you, idiot. Plus, those ingrates back at HQ were wasting my talents with... *gags* tech support.
Rhodes: Look, play the apathy card all you want, but these C&A assholes have been swarming around and giving you guys a bad name ever since the 90's with this Circus game! Just... If the rumors really ARE true, if there really ARE people trapped in that game... I need to help them. Please?
The man stares at the desperate woman before he sighs defeatedly. He mumbles something incoherent as he reaches into a drawer of the desk he's seated at and pulls out a VR headset.
Cosgrove: Here. Before I change my mind.
Rhodes: The Super View! Aren't these the headsets that's supposed to put me in a coma?
Cosgrove: Yes, but this is a different circumstance. I took some time to analyze what exactly is wrong with the headset and why it did the things it did. Now with my modifications, you may be comatose, but I also added a 2 way communication chat to the avatar I custom made for you so I can speak with you. You should be able to keep a sound mind AND if things get too intense, I can easily pull you out back to reality. You'll be like a player character in the eyes of the game.
Rhodes: Woah. I... Never knew you could do this.
Cosgrove: There's a lot you don't know about me, Frida. Now, unless something goes VERY wrong, you'll be in the game for a while. You sure you wanna go through with this?
Rhodes: ...Not really. But SOMEONE has to help.
The woman then sits down in a nearby chair in the small cramped room they had hunkered themselves in. Rhodes lets out a breath as she slips the headset on her face, her vision being fully encompassed by a familiar start screen as chipper, bit-tune music plays.
