KNOT OF OUR TIMES

In that embrace,
All of you became all of me
In that loving intertwine,
I watched as you were born,
Every cycle closing with a tear drop from my eyes.

My eyes bore witness
To your earliest forms
Leaves enrobed your celestial beauty,
Carnal sin flooding through my body
A prayer escaping like a gasp
At the first taste of terror.

I was there, above you,
When you roared in laughter,
Burning marshmallows, savouring wine
The triumph of a fleeting lifetime
Yet, fear gripped me,
What if you forgot to return?
But as your face shone through,
A twitch on my lips,
The world was darkness,
Heaven in your details.

Teardrops tried to soothe your pain,
Your sobs heaving your chest
The first life where our forms met,
And the first last time in that lifetime.

The gleam in your eyes
On our second first time,
The soul recognized when the body felt lost
In that soft glow of the night lamp
Soothing hums of your hymns
Fingers traced those forgotten verses
Senses stripped away
One after the other
As each phrase slipped my touch
Only your unwavering gaze ached my body.

In your last lifetime,
Faithful friend you were mine
Love consumed me,
Not carnal, but deeply eternal
In your eyes, love, I saw my life,
The ending of all my beginnings.

You flood my sight now,
Even as tears blur the periphery,
I see You
The layers of pain,
Thousands of tears to be shed
Love brimming to the edges of your soul,
Your love that cradles me in its caring arms

This knot that tied us,
Through lifetimes and more,
Countless refrains on the rosary,
May it never come undone
Every meaning of everything I do,
Lies in you.
