"Statistics says this,"
"The graph indicates that"
"Surveys shed light on a certain percentage"
Numbers on a screen,
That's what you're reduced to.
Everything is viewed in a pragmatic lens,
Every circumstance you find yourself in,
A mere probability, scales weigh your emotions,
And proportionality dictates your reaction.
The Heart is accustomed to its wails being ignored,
The Heart pokes its head through mind's cages
It knows the end is nigh,
When empathy is shattered to pieces.
A brutal rape headlining newspapers,
Is as normal as the first ray of light
Endless war crimes with excuses of superiority,
Is where empathy must shine.
Feeling for others is a burden,
Earning enough to feed oneself is our hamster's wheel
Eradicating empathy is the system's pride,
Selfishness is needed to foster Big Brother and his dream for humanity.
