Death came knocking,
White flowy cape
I would say there was a sad smile,
But I'm not a fool.
I thought and said,
'It's been a long day,
And you've a lot more to haul,
Make haste, let my lover not linger'
I say so 'cause I know,
Hope hardly is a comfort,
It is but a stopper
On the vial of grief and sorrow.
And then I saw Death's smile,
It was drooping on the edges
And my world blurred
Death took a gander,
At my lover yonder.
I've been a witness
Witness to countless ups and downs of the sun
But as the moon shines over the gloomy night
All I can feel,
All I know,
Is everything I've learnt.
My lover's arms cradle me,
Her sweet breath soothes the burn
Her feeble whispers get me going
And hope is all I own.
I am a fool,
And I stay a fool.
