Love-worn pages of Autumn

Twenty. Two Decades. A whole new person.

The years changed me like time changes wine,

Delectable and sweet, with a hint of sour.

Gone are the days where those hideous pigtails held my long locks hostage,

Gone are the days where the kohl lined my eyes like I had a black eye,

Not like a sexy raccoon, more like a menace in the making.

The girl you met sitting on the last benches in 6th grade,

She's still a part of your life!

The pal you made by happenstance at sixteen,

No one loves you more!

The bespectacled, innocent lass, remember?

Yeah, she's fond of you!

Your first crush that made you discover your inner drama queen?

He's reduced to cordial wishes on special occasions

But, the biggest thing of all?

You love yourself now, truly.

As I walk past these bushy trees and convoluted creepers,

Rusted gates and reddened leaves,

Gentle wind that ruffles my hair,

A melody that knows me well,

Know ye this, you are cherished,

You are wanted,

And most importantly,

You are loved.
