Kai and Kara landed at the entrance of the Nighteye Agency building, the sleek, modern structure towering above them. As they touched down, Kara looked around, feeling a mix of excitement and nervousness.
"So, where exactly are we going, Kai?" Kara asked, her eyes scanning the entrance.
Kai smirked, his hands casually in his pockets. "We're here to see someone. Someone important. You'll see soon enough."
He led the way inside, and they made their way through the agency's hallways. As they walked, Kara couldn't help but feel a sense of unease—she was still getting used to being around so many heroes, especially given her past. But she trusted her brother and Kai, and they had made sure to include her in everything, even if it meant facing some uncomfortable moments.
When they reached the office, Kai pushed the door open and entered, finding Sir Nighteye seated at his desk, intently focused on his computer. A slight tension seemed to hang in the air, the silence almost palpable. But that changed when the door opened.
Bubble Girl, who had been standing by the door, immediately stiffened when she saw Kai. But her expression softened the moment her eyes met his. She smiled warmly at him, her previous apprehension fading away.
"Well, well, if it isn't Superman," she said, her tone friendly but still carrying a hint of curiosity. "I didn't expect to see you here today."
Kai grinned, nodding at her. "I could say the same. But we're here to speak with Sir Nighteye."
Bubble Girl nodded, gesturing them in as she stepped aside. As they entered, Kai caught Nighteye's eye, and, in a move that surprised Kara, he flashed a grin and leaned against the doorframe, trying to lighten the mood.
"Well, Sir, I don't mean to interrupt your endless pursuit of workaholism, but I bring good news and a little bit of company," Kai joked, his usual carefree attitude making the tension in the room dissolve.
Nighteye glanced up, his face a little more serious but still softened by the familiar presence. "Kai," he said with a nod. "I assume this is your sister, Kara?"
Kara gave a small wave, unsure of how to behave in front of someone with such a reputation. "Yes, that's me," she said quietly.
Nighteye gestured for them to sit in front of his desk. "I assume you're both here to talk business. But first, let me brief you on something important."
He pulled up a report on his screen, showing pictures of the girl they had encountered in the streets—Eri. He began explaining the situation. "Izuku and Mirio were patrolling when they encountered a man named Overhaul. The girl, Eri, was with him—frightened, visibly traumatized. Overhaul and the girl are connected to the Hassaikai, a Yakuza group. We've been investigating them, but things have escalated."
Kai listened intently, glancing at Kara, who was now more invested in the conversation. This was the kind of thing the Titans had trained for, but it was still troubling to hear.
Nighteye continued. "Eri is a victim in all this, and it seems Overhaul has been using her for something. We still don't know the full extent, but from the moment Mirio and Izuku encountered them, we've been trying to gather more information."
Kai leaned forward. "Sounds like we need to do something about it, then."
Nighteye nodded. "Indeed. Mirio and Izuku are doing their best on the ground, but there's only so much they can do with the limited intel we have. Which is why I've called you two in. I need your assistance. I know you and your team have dealt with worse in the States."
Kara exchanged a glance with Kai. This was a serious case—one that felt all too familiar. She clenched her fists, feeling a sense of determination rising within her.
