Kai sat back in his chair at Titan Tower, the familiar hum of the base surrounding him. It had been a few days since the intense battle on Nabu Island, and he had returned to the team, his body already recharged and his mind focused on the next mission.

Dick sat across from him, flipping through some papers on his desk. His expression was a mix of concern and amusement, clearly trying to make sense of the chaos that had followed Kai's absence.

"So," Dick began, leaning back in his chair, "You're a problem magnet, aren't you? Nabu Island, all that destruction, Nine... you're lucky you don't have a bounty on your head by now."

Kai chuckled, rubbing the back of his neck. "Honestly, I was really enjoying my vacation. It's not every day you get to spend time with family, let alone take on a supervillain in front of a bunch of students."

Dick raised an eyebrow, clearly skeptical. "Family, huh? I thought you were just hanging out on a beach, soaking up some sun. Not fighting a power-hungry villain with the speech, 'I will change the world'....."

"Well, I wouldn't call it just that," Kai said with a small laugh, a slight smile tugging at his lips. "But yes, my little sister... and the kids—Izuku, Bakugo, and the others—they really stepped up."

Dick leaned forward, his usual teasing tone softening as he heard the sincerity in Kai's voice. "I get it, man. It's good to have that time with family. But, you know, you can't escape this stuff forever. You're Superman, after all."

Kai's smile faded slightly, and he leaned back in his chair, his gaze drifting toward the window. "I know. It's just... sometimes it's nice to remember that I'm not always the one who has to save the day. Everyone, including Izuku and the rest of them, they proved they've got what it takes."

Dick nodded, understanding the weight of what Kai was saying. "That's what it's all about, right? Passing on the lessons, letting them grow into their roles. You're a mentor, Kai. That's something to be proud of."

Kai smiled, glancing over at Dick. "I guess so. But I can't lie—it's nice to have a break, even if it's just for a while."

Just as he said that, the door to the room opened with a soft whoosh, and Starfire, Raven, and Beast Boy walked in, all looking like they'd just wrapped up a training session.

"Well, it seems like you're back to your usual routine, Kai," Raven commented, her dry humor evident. "I can't imagine you'd stay in vacation mode for too long."

Kai grinned. "I'd like to, but you know how it goes. It's a never-ending battle."

Starfire gave Kai a bright, welcoming smile. "It is good to have you back, friend. Your strength and wisdom are always an inspiration to us."

Kai chuckled, feeling the warmth of their friendship. "Thanks, Kori. You're always too kind."

Dick stood up from his desk, stretching. "Well. we've got work to do, Kai. Titan business never stops."

Kai stood up, adjusting his gear. "I'm ready. Let's get to it."

Kai's phone rang loudly, cutting through the casual conversation. He glanced down at the screen, his eyes widening when he saw the name on the caller ID. Dad.

Without a second thought, he quickly answered the call, his voice tight with urgency as he said, "Dad? What's going on?"

On the other end, Toshinori's voice sounded strained but serious. "Kai, I need you at U.A. immediately. It's urgent. Something's happened, and I need you there."

Kai's posture immediately shifted, his carefree attitude slipping away as his expression became more serious. He glanced up at Dick and the others, his gaze firm. "I have to go. U.A. needs me right now."
