Kai sat in the massive leather chair behind his father's desk at U.A., leaning back with a mixture of amusement and curiosity. The office, lined with memorabilia from All Might's glory days, seemed almost too grand for the kind of conversation they were having. Kara and Izuku stood across from him, both looking a bit sheepish but determined.
Kai adjusted his red cape, letting it drape over the side of the chair, and smirked slightly. "Alright, let me make sure I've got this straight," he began, his deep voice carrying a hint of incredulity. "You're telling me the entirety of Class 1-A was wiped out by one guy? And not just anyone—a third-year named Mirio Togata, who, mind you, was still a first-year when I was in my third year here at U.A.?"
Kara crossed her arms, her expression unimpressed. "Yes, but let's not forget that Mirio is not just anyone. The man's a juggernaut. And while I could've probably taken the hits and dragged it out longer, it was clear from the start it was an endless battle. He could've kept going all day. Fighting him was like trying to catch smoke."
Kai chuckled, a proud grin spreading across his face. "I'll admit, I'm not surprised. That boy was a mess when he first started here—no technique, no strategy, just raw potential. But he worked his tail off, and now he's... well, apparently good enough to take down an entire class solo."
He leaned forward, resting his elbows on the desk. "And let's not forget who trained him. Sir Nighteye may be one of the sharpest minds in hero society. The man sees every move before it even happens. If Mirio's like that now, it's thanks to him."
Izuku shifted uncomfortably, clearly still processing the loss. "It was... eye-opening," he admitted. "But that's why we're here, Kai. We want to do internships with you and the Titans. You're one of the most respected groups out there, and now that you're in Japan, it's a chance we can't ignore."
Kara nodded in agreement, her confidence as unshakable as ever. "Only a fool wouldn't jump at the opportunity to learn from you. You and the Titans are legendary—not just in the States but everywhere."
Kai raised an eyebrow, his expression softening as he looked at them. "Flattery will get you far, but let's be real. This isn't just about rubbing shoulders with the big names. You're serious about this?"
Both Kara and Izuku nodded firmly.
Kai let out a small sigh, rubbing the back of his neck. "Alright, Kara, I'll take you on. You're my sister, and I know what you're capable of. But, Izuku..." He paused, giving the green-haired boy a pointed look. "There's someone else who wants to meet you."
Izuku blinked, surprised. "Who?"
Kai leaned back, a smirk playing on his lips. "Sir Nighteye. My dad's old sidekick and the guy who trained Mirio. He's the same one who mentored Momo during her first work-study. He asked specifically about you after hearing about what happened with Mirio. If anyone can help you grow into the hero you want to be, it's him."
Izuku's eyes widened, his breath catching in his throat. "N-Nighteye? He wants to meet me?"
Kai leaned back against his father's desk, his arms crossed as he studied Izuku. His expression shifted, becoming more serious. Izuku noticed the change immediately, sensing that whatever Kai was about to say wasn't just casual conversation.
"There's something you need to know, Izuku," Kai began, his voice calm but weighty. "Something about my father and Sir Nighteye. Their relationship... well, it didn't end on the best of terms."
Izuku tilted his head, confused. "What do you mean? I thought All Might and Sir Nighteye were a team—partners."
Kai nodded slowly. "They were. For years, they were an unstoppable duo. Nighteye's ability to predict outcomes and analyze situations was the perfect complement to my dad's strength and charisma. Together, they were the embodiment of justice. But... things changed."
