The sun was high in the sky, the ocean reflecting a brilliant blue as Kai and Eri paddled out on a surfboard together. Melissa sat on the shore, watching them with a bright smile, occasionally taking pictures with her phone.
"Okay, kiddo, hold on tight," Kai said, keeping a firm grip on Eri as they caught the next wave.
Eri's eyes were wide with excitement as the board rose with the water, Kai effortlessly keeping them balanced. As the wave carried them forward, the wind rushing past, she laughed louder than ever.
"This is amazing!!" she shouted, holding onto Kai's arm.
Kai grinned. "Told you surfing was fun!"
As they rode the wave toward the shore, something caught Kai's attention out on the horizon.
A ship.
His eyes narrowed slightly, his instincts kicking in—but as he focused, his super vision activated, zooming in on the passengers aboard.
The second he saw them, his lips curled into a smile.
Class 1-A had arrived.
Standing on the deck of the ferry, he recognized, Kara, Izuku, Katstuki, Shoto, Tenya, Ochako and all the class They were talking, looking excited as they neared the island, completely unaware that he was already here.
Kai let out a small chuckle. Well, I guess my quiet vacation just got a little more interesting.
He and Eri rode the wave all the way back to shore, where Melissa was waiting with a knowing look.
"What's that smile for?" she asked.
Kai picked up Eri and placed her on his shoulders, still grinning. "Looks like the kids are here."
Melissa blinked, then followed his gaze out to sea—where the ship carrying U.A.'s best and brightest was fast approaching.
"Well," she said, smirking. "This should be fun."
Kai stretched his arms, feeling the warmth of the sun on his skin. With a small sigh, he reached for his sunglasses and a cap, sliding them on to conceal his identity. Melissa tilted her head at him, amused.
"So, what's the plan, oh great Superman?" she teased.
Kai smirked as he adjusted his cap. "We avoid contact with the U.A. students. They're here for work, and the last thing they need is a distraction."
Melissa nodded. "Makes sense. But that means no hero business for you either."
Kai let out a mock groan. "Yeah, yeah, I get it. No hero stuff. Just a regular guy on vacation."
Before he could say anything else, Eri perked up, her eyes sparkling with excitement.
"So... it's like spying?" she asked eagerly.
Kai paused for a second, then grinned. "You know what? Exactly."
Eri clapped her hands, clearly loving the idea. Melissa just sighed, shaking her head with a smile. "Great. Now she thinks this is a secret mission."
Kai knelt down and pulled a tiny pair of sunglasses and a beach hat from his bag, placing them on Eri's head. The hat was big enough to cover her little horn, making sure she wouldn't stand out too much.
"Alright, Agent Eri," Kai said playfully. "Your mission is to blend in and not let the U.A. kids know we're here."
Eri gasped in excitement. "Yes, sir!"
Melissa adjusted her own sunglasses and crossed her arms. "Fine, but if they do find out, you explain why we're playing secret agents."
Kai smirked. "Deal."
