The common room was bustling with activity as Class 1-A celebrated Christmas together. Laughter filled the air, the scent of a giant feast mingling with the warm glow of Christmas lights hanging around the room. Everyone was gathered around, plates piled high with food, and festive music playing softly in the background.
Kyoka, sitting beside Ochako and Tsuyu, casually asked, "So, are you two going back to Ryukyu's agency for the Work-Studies?"
Ochako grinned and nodded. "Yep! Ryukyu's agency was really amazing last time, so I'm definitely excited to go back. It's like a second home now."
Tsuyu, her tongue flicking out as she reached for a serving of food, added, "Same here. I learned a lot last time, and I'm looking forward to more hands-on experience."
Tenya, ever the diligent student, turned his attention to Izuku, his glasses glinting in the light as he asked, "Izuku, are you going back to the Nighteye Agency?"
Izuku, who was sitting next to Kara, smiled and shook his head. "Actually, no. I'll be going with Kara to train under Kai-sensei." His eyes lit up as he spoke about it, clearly excited. "It'll be an incredible opportunity, and I can't wait to see how much I can learn from him."
The mention of Kai seemed to spark a new level of excitement in the room, and Kara smiled warmly, her thoughts clearly on the upcoming training sessions.
Eijiro, munching on a piece of roasted chicken, glanced over at Katsuki with a raised brow. "Katsuki, what about you? You're going back to Best Jeanist's, right?"
Katsuki's expression darkened slightly as he crossed his arms, his usual fire behind his words. "I haven't decided yet," he muttered, his gaze drifting away for a moment, the image of Best Jeanist's face flashing in his mind.
The mention of his mentor reminded Katsuki of his time at the internship, the conversations that had shaped his views, and the questions left unanswered.
His thoughts drifted back to that day with Best Jeanist, who had asked him why he hadn't chosen a Hero name yet. Best Jeanist had looked at him, sharp eyes studying him like a puzzle, and had said, "A Hero name is more than just a title. It's an image of who you want to be, or who you should be. You'll need it, eventually. It's the mark of what you stand for."
Katsuki had growled in response, bristling at the idea of being caged in by a name. "Who needs one? We all got rejected anyway." But deep down, Best Jeanist's words lingered.
Eijiro, sensing the shift in the conversation, nudged Katsuki with a friendly but cautious smile. "I get it, man. You're not interested in anyone else's training, huh? I mean, with all those offers from the Sports Festival, you could probably go with anyone, but I know you're not one to follow the crowd."
Katsuki's eyes flickered briefly to Eijiro, a flash of his usual competitive edge showing in his gaze. "I'm not some charity case," he muttered, but it was clear that he'd been giving the matter more thought than he let on.
Izuku, noticing the brief tension, cut in. "Well, no matter what, we all have our own paths. I think we'll all be stronger after this." His tone was hopeful, as if he believed, deep down, that whatever challenges awaited them in the Work-Studies, they'd face them head-on, as a team.
The group nodded, each of them reflecting on their journey, the bonds they'd formed, and the challenges that still lay ahead.
Minoru groaned dramatically, tossing a grape-flavored soda bottle cap onto the floor. "Ugh! Can we not talk about work-studies or internships during Christmas?! This is supposed to be a holiday, people!"
Just as a few classmates chuckled at his outburst, the dorm doors swung open.
Rikido stepped in like a hero with a tray stacked high with steaming dishes. "Alright! More food's here!" he grinned, muscles gleaming like some culinary titan as he carried enough for an army.
