{The Legacy Of It All}

Keeping my eyes open, I stared into the vast, empty expanse of the multiverse, and I let myself be carried by the flow of all the different fates I encountered.

Bumping from one timeline to another, bouncing from one world to another, I closed my eyes and, for a brief blink of a couple of years, let myself be immersed in the life I was about to experience.

-They're not backing down !" Screamed Dave, fear apparent in his tone after shooting with his barrel gun at the ragtag group of sheriffs, military personnel, and international police on the other side of the wagon.

-Calm down, we've still got a few things going our way." Replied Captain Sánchez, as cool, handsome, and focused as ever, his long mustache and colorful clothing still impeccable despite the crushing heat from the sun, the barrage of dust and fumes, and having engagée the enemy for almost half an hour now.

- Like ?" Asked Dave with a cowardly expression, hiding behind a large couch, still inside the cabin, while a few bullets flew by and landed on the metal sheet of the cart behind me.

-Me." Replied the captain before leaping from cover, facing the enemy without a hint of fear while running backward, shooting all the bullets in his two handguns and managing to safely reach my position between the two rams of the train while taking out as many policemen as he fired shots.

My eyes stayed glued on Sánchez as I admired how amazing, fearless, and overall incredibly talented he was. While he was with me, I felt like I would never lose a fight.

Gripping my firearm a bit tighter, I prepared to fire a few shots at the incoming enemies, only for a glint to catch my attention in my peripheral vision.

Glancing up, I spotted one of the special agent members, who must have climbed up on the tram and crawled toward us to take his shot.

Reacting in a panic, and knowing that Captain Sánchez would be their main target, I leap toward him to take the bullet.

The last thing I heard was a loud detonation.

{The Legacy Of It All}

Opening my eyes again, I briefly reflected on those insignificantly short 19 years I had experienced in this world. The setting was mundane, the technology barely past industrialization, and the culture was nothing special; in other words, it was forgettable, like the millions of other worlds I had experienced before.

Regardless, I would compile all the information I had gathered in this lifetime into my seemingly endless mental database, noting that this one had, like so many before, ended because she had failed to utilize my powers.

Sighing, I let myself drift further along the multidimensional time-space continuum until bumping into another world. Closing my eyes once again, I had no expectation, curiosity, hope, fear, or emotion beyond the everlasting dullness that I had been experiencing for eons.

Receiving a powerful punch on the jaw, followed by another one below my ribs after I intentionally failed my downward slash, I staggered a bit, not having anticipated Grey to hit me that hard.
