Dagmar's presence continued to change the routine of castle workers. Bean and Tavish assumed it would've been a one-time thing, but surprisingly, the work ethic continued. The twins didn't know if Dagmar's soothing voice boosted everyone's morale and had everyone working twice as hard to make the castle look cleaner. The gardeners' work on trimming the bushes improved significantly. It didn't stop there. Even the townspeople's attitudes had improved somewhat. Although, Bean wondered if it was because many wanted to flirt with Dagmar. Her suspicions were proven when she was out and about with her. It didn't help that Dagmar would often play around and flirt back. The banter between some townsfolk grew worse when Bean and Dagmar were at the bar. The two were enjoying a pleasant conversation when one brave man approached them. He sat next to Dagmar and tried his luck.
"You know, I've only ever seen paintings of you. But, looking at the real thing is much better," The man smirked.
"I'm glad I can live up to your expectations," said Dagmar, smiling at the man.
"You know, maaaybe I can get to know you a little more? What do you say?" He reached over and touched Dagmar's hand.
Bean glared and stood from her seat, ready to knock the man out cold. But the brave man suddenly screamed and began swatting at his shirt, shouting, "GET THEM OFF ME! GET THEM OFF ME!" He tripped over chairs, scrambling to get to his feet. When he did, he ran out of the bar, screaming at the top of his lungs.
"What the hell was that about?" said Bean, confused.
Dagmar shrugs. "Everyone always seems to be frightened of spiders. I find them to be cute." She sipped her beer.
"What?" Bean looked at her mother, puzzled. "But there weren't any spiders on him."
"Is that so? How strange."
The next day, Dagmar spent time with Tavish. The two mingled around with the ingredients they gathered a few days ago. The two worked carefully on completing a potion project that they had started. Tavish has always worked on regular healing potions, but thanks to Dagmar, his diversity in the effects of potion-making increased.
"I never thought you could make a potion of invisibility," said Tavish, astonished.
"Many of these recipes are only found in certain parts of the world. Like at the capital of Hecate, it's where I picked up on a few things," said Dagmar.
"Capital of Hecate?"
"It's a land known for holding the most valuable secrets of magic and its history. I believe there's an academy for wizards and enchantresses, too. I know Sorcerio is from there." The queen took a glass tube and poured it into a cup.
"I never knew you traveled like that, Mother,"
"Well, I've never been there, but I know of it thanks to an old friend of mine," said Dagmar. "At some point—" BOOOOOOOOOM!"
Smoke clouded Tavish's room. The prince opened his window, coughing violently. "M-Mother! Are you ok?!"
The smoke cleared, and Dagmar stood there staring at the tubes. Some of her hair was black. "Well...It seems I miscalculated a bit..."
"I have also blown myself up here and there..." Tavish chuckled.
Dagmar smiled at her son. "Well, that's another thing we have in common, don't we?"
Tavish returned the smile, and the two cleaned up the mess together.
Despite how everyone in the kingdom felt, Koga's gut feeling bothered him throughout the week. Anytime he saw Dagmar, goosebumps would appear on his arms. The next time he saw the queen, Dagmar winked at him while she was walking with Zog. Zog asked if something was in her eye; she would lie and say a moth flew into it. On other occasions, his flight-or-fight senses would kick in, and the wanderer would whip around and face Dagmar. "A little jumpy, aren't we, Koga?" The queen said with a playful tone. She walked past him, staring at him with bedroom eyes. Koga was never someone who had chills. But Dagmar was the first to send chills down his spine. And not for the reasons others might think.
