(This part-request, part-personal enjoyment makes me know for a fact the person who requested is a twin of mine for wanting another Alan slowburn🤭)

It happened quite a while back. If you had minded your own business that day, perhaps you'd still be living in blissful oblivion.

"I don't see her that way. Stop using that as a threat to get your way, Leo."

Those words still rung at the back of your head ever so often. Alan's voice was definitive when he had spoken. And with that, came the conclusion of your little crush on the Vagastrom captain. Life had to go on, and after your curse had officially broken, albeit in a method messier than you'd like, many professors have decided to offer you to stay as an official student in Darkwick. And being you, you agreed. With everything that happened, the ever spontaneous Chancellor decided that the 4th years this year would only intern at their respective places during the second trimester. So while the students graduated a year old, the now 3rd years were still able to see the 4ths.

The school bell chimed, indicating the end of lesson. As you packed up, a few of your classmates came up to you, "You're joining us for lunch right, MC?" That voice belonged to Selene, a friend you made yourself out of your whole chaotic time in this school, someone other than ghouls. Behind her were Kotoko and Eiji, both looking at you with big hopeful eyes, making you smile. It took much effort to finally integrate yourself into the clique of general students. Back when you were the cursed honour student, everyone walked on eggshells around you. Before you could answer, Dante called for you.

"MC. Meet me in my office."

There goes lunch plans with friends.

As you entered Dante's office, the smell of papers and ink brought back a sense of nostalgia. You remembered this familiar place, back when you came here all the time as an inspector to report all the documents belonging to Frostheim and Vagastrom. Faintly but undeniably, you caught a whiff of oil, one which you could only recognise from someone who fiddled with cars like it was his part time job.

Alan looked towards the opened door, his brows relaxing when he saw you.

"I'll cut to the chase. MC, I need you to help Alan with anomalous combat."

Dante's words caused shock to flicker across both your faces.

"Theory papers."

Alan's surprise dropped but yours remained. For someone who excelled in anomalous combat, you thought he'd be passing his theory papers with flying colours.

"I'm not good with words, Dante said."

Alan's statement earned him a 'yeah, no kidding.' from Sho who was all the way back in the kitchen prepping food for Bonnie.

The captain's frown knitted tighter together shooting the younger ghoul a glare,

"The ring at 5 pm. Don't be late."

"Yeah, yeah."

Sho sighed and went off to feed his motorcycle who was revving up with hunger.

"Anyway,"

He turned back to you clearing his throat,

"Could you help me with phrasing for the essay?"

You scanned his previous exam scripts pensively. Ever since 2nd year, he'd already been getting a barely passing grade and when he reached his 3rd year, he was no longer able to reach the grading standards of a 'C'. Most of his sentences had correct points, just structured in a specific way that made the sentence incomprehensible.
