Spike - Summer

I roll over and pick up the phone. He's on speed dial so all I have to do is press a button and wait. He picks up on the second ring.

"Hello?"

"Can you come over?" I ask tiredly.

"Yes -"

"Thanks." I put the phone down and throw the blanket off me.

Not five minutes later, he's outside my window and I lift it up to let him in.  Effortlessly, he manoeuvres himself inside and gives me a worried expression.

I collapse back onto my bed and tell him, "Come here."

He sighs - I can't detect the emotion behind it - and kicks off his boots, shrugs off his duster and takes off his trousers too. He climbs in next to me, no questions asked.

When I wrap my limbs around him, he gasps. I know how warm my skin feels on a normal day to him but on a sweltering summer night like tonight, I must be searing. 

"Ah!" he stiffens before relaxing into the warmth, "That's nice."

His cool skin feels perfect on my hot flesh, already easing the tension in my body. 

"Sorry for interrupting your night," I mumble into his neck, "I woke up two hours ago and can't fall back asleep. It's too hot."

I hear the smile in his voice when he says, "I'd drop everything to be your own personal icepack, pet. Any day."

I hum. 

"You know..." he says slowly, tentatively, "If we moved in together, we could do this every night."

I prop myself up to look into his eyes. 

"Are you serious?"

The fond expression on his face makes me heat up again. 

"I've been meaning to ask."

I hug him tighter. Then pause. "We're gonna have to seriously rearrange our sleep schedules."

"It would be an honour."

I laugh, "You're funny."

"And you're perfect. Now hush, I thought you wanted some sleep?"
