this was requested a while ago and here it finally is
"Is it hard to play guitar?"
Oz considers the question for a moment before replying, "Not the way I play it."
I smile. "Do you think you could teach me sometime?"
"Yeah," he says, "I think I could."

I rap on the door three times because Oz's house doesn't seem to have a doorbell. I worry for a minute that my knock might have been too quiet, but then remember that werewolves have excellent hearing. But does that only happen when they turn? And it's not a full moon tonight, is it? I look up at the sky with a frown.
"Sometimes I get angry at the moon, too."
Oz is standing in the doorway, looking at me with vague curiosity. I laugh, embarrassed.
"Come in." he says and I do. His house smells like potpourri and firewood.
I take off my shoes before following Oz into his living room - a small, cosy space perfected with a roaring fireplace. That explains the smell. His guitar is propped up against the sofa but a glossy red record player really catches my attention.
"You have a record player? I've always wanted one of these! I have like three records at home but I can only play them when I go to Xander's house. He has one but he doesn't even use it."
I run my fingers lightly over the sides of it. There's already a record sitting in it. "Can I?"
"Go ahead."
I drop the needle randomly on the record and it starts playing a song I don't know, but like the sound of. "Nice. Records sound way nicer than tapes."
He picks up the guitar and takes it over to the sofa. He sits, holds the guitar up and strums a few chords. He starts to play along with the music. I watch in awe from beside the record player.
As the song comes to an end, I clap. Oz looks up and almost smiles. Almost.
I carefully remove the needle and plop down next to him on the couch.
"You think you got what it takes?" He asks as he passes me the instrument.
"Not at all." I say honestly, "Am I holding this right?"
He nods and I sit up a little straighter.
Experimentally, I strum the strings and it doesn't sound like nails on a chalk board.
"Good." he remarks. "I should warn you that I barely know what I'm doing myself."
"You're too modest. You wouldn't be in a band if you weren't awesome at playing." I counter.
He carefully moves my fingers on my left hand into position.
"This is C major."
Having his fingers over mine feels really weird. I can't exactly describe it, but it feels intimate and I know it shouldn't (we're just friends and he's just teaching me how to play guitar). I don't move a muscle, but I know my face is red. That's why I don't look at him as I say "Uh huh."
I strum the guitar and Oz repositions my hand. "This is A major."
This repeats until he's shown me what he calls the best chords. I'll just have to take his word for it. By the end of the night, I've definitely learned something, although I'm confused about what I'm feeling. Towards Oz. I don't think it's something to worry about but that might just be because I'm with him. I find it near impossible to be anxious when he's in the room, like his nonchalance is infectious.
After he's taught me the basics (and we've had a game or six of GoldenEye 007 on his PlayStation) he walks me home.
"See you tomorrow," Oz says as he drops me off at my door. "I had fun tonight. You're a natural."
I smile. "You're not so bad yourself."
This time, he does smile. And I grin back.
