SO, THE BOMB PLAN FAILED APPARENTLY. While Ivy was sitting awkwardly through a painful conversation between Octavia and Bellamy where he practically disowned her, the others had discovered that the plan wouldn't work. Bellamy sighed, "What do you mean, you're not building a bomb?"
"Releasing it in the water will cause it to aerosolize at a lower concentration," Gabriel answered. "We'll trigger an evacuation without inducing a mass psychosis."
"In other words, no innocent people will die," Clarke summarized. That part seemed good, right? Although, Ivy had no clue what Gabriel had just said. She wasn't great at all the science stuff.
She raised her eyebrows. "How long until they realize there's no eclipse and turn around?"
"Not long enough," the Griffin girl responded, which did not sound good. Why couldn't all their enemies be idiots? "We'll need to be inside before it starts, which means—"
"Which means the shield needs to be down before it starts," Bellamy concluded, and Ivy groaned. Why couldn't everything just go to plan for once? It felt like the entire universe was constantly against them.
Octavia questioned, "Can you do that without a distraction?"
"It's the only way," Clarke responded. She would need to go inside first under the cover that she was still Josephine. It was quite literally the only way they would be able to get inside.
Bellamy shook his head, stepping forward like he had just come up with some big idea that would save them all. "It's not the only way. We use the bomb as planned."
"So, did you not hear the whole thing where the bomb plan wouldn't work?" Ivy asked.
Bellamy shot her a look, and she responded with a glare, causing his face to go straight before turning back to Clarke. "Risking your life when we don't have to is just—"
"Is how we do better," Clarke finished for him. And despite her very confusing feelings for Bellamy, she was kind of sick of him acting like Clarke wasn't perfectly capable of protecting herself. "What would Monty do?"
"She's right, Bellamy. It's the only way. So, unless you can somehow get a lot prettier, lose the beard, and shrink a few inches, it has to be Clarke. Stop pretending like she can't handle herself," Ivy snapped.
"I—" he started, but he couldn't seem to come up with a defense for that. He just looked over at the Griffin girl. "Clarke, if you fail, if Russell figures out that his daughter is dead, all our people are dead, too."
She shrugged. "So, I won't fail."
"Bellamy, if we can spare innocent lives, we should," Octavia pointed out. They couldn't just come on to the new planet, kill everyone, and destroy it like they did the last one. They needed to take the path that would cause the least amount of casualties if they wanted to continue the human race.
They looked over at the entrance of the tent when they heard motorcycles revving. The Sanctum guards were there. It was time.
《✤》
THEY WERE BOUND AND GAGGED BY LAYLA. They were tied to posts inside teh tent, and within minutes, the Sanctum guards had fought their way through the Children of Gabriel. Either that or the Children just let them in. Ivy wasn't too sure since she was, you know, tied up.
A knife slashed through the fabric in the side of the tent, and Ivy audibly groaned when Murphy stepped through, followed by Jade. "Hey, there."
Ivy said something very inappropriate, but her voice was muffled by the gag. He looked over at her with a confused expression, and she wanted to flip him off so badly. Layla pointed her gun at him, but he grabbed it and slammed the butt of it into her head.
"Josephine?" Jade asked, and Clarke nodded. They heard gunfire outside as she rushed to the blonde girl and released her as well as removed her gag.
"Well done, Jade," the Griffin girl said in Josephine's high-pitched voice once her mouth was free. She then smirked up at Murphy. "You just can't pick a side, can you, John?"
"The only reason I'm doing this is because Emori dies if I don't," he told her, but he was looking at Ivy when he said it, trying to convince her. "Echo's in trouble, too. I promise I'll do what I can for her."
"Give us two seconds to make sure it's clear, then follow," Jade told 'Josephine. She stood up to leave, but just as she did, Layla began to regain consciousness. Jade pointed her gun at her, but Clarke held out her hand.
"No," she said, grabbing a gun from the table and pointing it at Layla as well. Ivy was unsure what the hell was happening, but she had faith in Clarke. "This one's mine. Go. Make sure it's clear."
The Bishop girl realized what was happening as Jade nodded before heading outside. Murphy looked up at Clarke with a frown. "Is she really gone this time?"
"Yes. Boo-hoo. Now, as soon as I pull this trigger, your little decoy trick will fail. You better run," she responded with a chuckle, and Ivy saw a flicked of sadness in his eyes before he left. As soon as he was gone, Clarke pointed the gun at the ground and fired. She then crouched down in front of Bellamy to take his gag off. "I can do this."
He nodded. "Get that shield down. I'll bring the cavalry."
"She isn't Josephine," Layla breathed out as Clarke moved over to Ivy and removed her gag. The Bishop girl was very grateful because it tasted like armpit.
"Oh, my God. Are you sure? What gave it away?"
