THE ENTIRE WORLD WAS MUFFLED AS IVY WALKED THROUGH THE COMPOUND HALLS. Octavia, Gabriel, Hope, Diyoza, and Echo walked ahead of her as she sort of stumbled along behind them. Every once in a whileach of them would glance back at her in concern, noticing her empty eyes and broken posture.
She honestly did not remember when they had been reunited with Diyoza, but it didn't matter to her. Nothing did. The only thing giving her life purpose, keeping her going, was gone. She had no will to live or do anything anymore. "There it is. That's the stone room," Gabriel announced as they arrived at a door. Ivy pulled her helmet over her head, sick and tired of the worried glances. Echo was heartbroken about it as well, but she knew that it quite literally destroyed Ivy.
They all glanced around suspiciously at the lack of people there, and Diyoza commented, "Something's not right."
"The stones are our only way out," Gabriel reminded them. Now that Bellamy was gone and they had Diyoza, it was time for them to get the hell out of there. But all Ivy wanted to do was sit down, lean up against the wall, and let whatever happens happen to her.
Diyoza said, "They'd know we were coming here."
"Good. We'll take right. You go left," Echo informed her before looking back at the blonde girl, whose helmet was pointed down the hallway. "Ivy, come on. We need you."
The Bishop girl slowly turned her head back to them, and she lazily raised her gun. What was the point anymore? She knew she should help her friends, but she could barely find the will to. Gabriel told them, "We go on three. 1... 2..."
"Wait," Octavia called, and they all turned to see her pushing past Diyoza and toward a janitor down the hall.
Diyoza tried to grab her arm and pull her back, but Hope stopped her, explaining, "It's Levitt. Let her go."
"A dozen disciples. They'll suicide to stop you if they have to," Levitt told Octavia once she approached him.
She furrowed her eyebrows. "Well, how do we get to Sanctum?"
"You don't," he answered, and Ivy's shoulders drooped even further. She wanted Clarke. She had wanted Clare for five years. But now, she needed Clarke. "Go through the oxygen farm. There's a door on the far side, stairs that'll take you to the surface. They won't follow because it's not survivable, not for long, anyway, longer than here."
