Chapter 1
___
I'm Alyssa Madden. For the past three years I've been bullied. I don't know why; no one ever gives me a reason. They just do it. It all started in the sixth grade.
I was going into a new school, middle school in fact, and I thought I'd be excited for it. I had bought new clothes and everything. I always wore my hair down, didn't really wear any makeup except mascara. I chose to wear a blue sheer shirt and black leggings. I also wore white sandals. I thought it would be a perfect "new" me.
I texted my best friend Riley to meet me outside to walk to school. Riley lived just two houses down from mine and we always hung out. I skipped downstairs, excited for the first day of school.
"Someone's happy." My 16 year old brother Mason said.
"Shut up." I laughed, getting a banana from the fruit bowl and heading outside.
Today is going to be the best. When Riley and I got to school, we saw so many unfamiliar faces. One of which I noticed, was a cute, brown haired boy. He was a little taller than me and definitely was more popular. But then again, there were bound to be other cute guys in our grade, so I moved on.
The bell rang for school to start and we all went to our advisory rooms. Riley and I had the same teacher, Mrs. Hunter. We were all assigned seats and I sat next to a boy named Alex Constancio. We quickly became friends after that day and soon enough, we were best friends, along with Riley.
It was four months into the year when Riley started getting popular. She was pretty, I had to admit, but she had an okay personality. She was rude sometimes, and she'd insult me in jokes, but I loved her anyway. It happened when Riley started going out with Robert, Alex's friend. It was the talk of the school. They were inseparable. -And I know this sounds weird, sixth graders, right? But it's not the worst of it-.
Ever since then, Riley started to ignore me sometimes and only talk to me when we were alone. I started making more and more friends just so I had someone to talk to. Apparently that was a mistake. The friends I made were ones that Riley hated. One in particular, Madison, came to be good friends with me. But Riley knew Madison had more popular friends and she was just using us. I didn't think so. Madison was one of the nicest girls I've ever met. She had beautiful brown hair that flowed down to her stomach and the nicest blue eyes. We had so many inside jokes and I could tell her everything.
But anyways, I started hanging out with Madison before classes and during lunch. We even sat at our own table with no one else because sometimes Riley's table would be full. We soon became best friends. I went over to her house every Monday and Friday to hang out. On Mondays, we would walk to the plaza that was nearby school and we'd get Starbucks. Then we would walk to my house and hang out in my room.
During school, I noticed Riley not talking to me anymore, except only in the one class we had together: Science. We had it 7th period so basically she ignored me the whole day. I would only hang out with Madison now. I think it's because everyone only liked me because I was best friends with Riley who was much more popular than I was. Sometimes at lunch, when Madison and I were at our table, We would see Riley's friends whisper things to each other and look at us, then laugh.
On a gloomy Tuesday morning, I was in advisory when Riley came up to me, holding hands with Robert.
"Alyssa, I have something to tell you." Riley said. That's when the whole class turned their attention to us. Except the teacher who was correcting tests or something.
"Sure, what is it?" I answered, looking up from my homework that I hadn't finished.
"I'm sorry but, you've been hanging out with your own friends now and I think it's better if we just call our friendship off." Riley replied.
"Ha ha, funny." I laughed. Looking at Robert, I was hoping it was a joke, but he seemed to have the most stern face ever.
"Well, you see, you're not really hanging out with us anymore so what's the point of being friends? And you're whole personality changed since you met Madison, I mean, you usually don't act like that." Riley explained.
"Oh well... That's kind of a dumb reason to end a friendship." I murmured.
"Bye Alyssa." She said, turning to walk away. Great. I just keep loosing friends.
___
A few days passed and I only hung out with Madison. We were at lunch when I saw a group of girls whispering something and looking at me. At first, I ignored them. But then I saw more and more people talking.
"Do you know what's going on? Why do they keep looking at us?" I asked Madison.
"Well, actually... I heard some rumors about you. Like, they're saying that you... That you cut." Madison explained.
"Seriously? Who would say that?" I said quietly. I thought about it, then I realized. It has to be... Riley. Of course. She would. Just to embarrass me? I think yes. Why would she say that I cut?
I looked at my wrists to see perfectly fine skin, not a single cut. "You wouldn't say anything... Right?" I asked Madison.
"If course not!" She answered quickly but I wasn't sure of her answer.
I just went on with the day anyway. At the end of the day, I laid in bed. I started at the ceiling, thinking.
What if all of my friends secretly hate me? I'm sure they do.
The next day, I went to school and it was horrible. Everyone ignored me and looked at me like I was nothing. Even Madison, kind of.
"Hey." I walked up to Madison before class started.
"Hi Alyssa, I'd like to talk but I need to go right now." She said walking away quickly.
I walked on and then heard a group of students whispering.
"Dude, I heard Alyssa isn't a virgin." One guy said.
"What a slut." A girl said.
"Don't talk to her guys." Another girl said.
My whole day went by horribly. I went straight home right after school and didn't talk to anyone. Not even my mom or brothers. I went straight to my room and locked the door.
Why does this keep happening? Who thinks of this stuff like, seriously?! Riley. Obviously.

Hello readers:) This is my first story on Wattpad and I'm sorry if the editing isn't good, I typed it/published it on my phone, then I edited it again on my computer and now the sync is all messed up but whatever.
Does anyone else feel like when you were in sixth grade, everyone started judging? Like, that's what happened to me on a minor level. But almost everyone in my grade was in the same position.
I seriously don't get it, what's so bad about the kind of clothing a person wears or how their appearance is?
To be honest, everyone used to call me 'almost anorexic'. It sucked. I thought the only way to not be skinny, was to eat. And so I did, but that wasn't the issue. My wrists and ankles are still hella skinny, but not like sticks.
I'll admit, I eat too much. But I dance for 4 hours everyday to balance it. Yet my mom think's I'm gaining too much weight, like seriously, I'm 99 lbs and 14 years old, what else do you want.
Sorry if that put your mood down or anything... But now you have an idea of where I'm coming from and why this story's plot is how it is.
I hope you enjoyed the first chapter!
