Chapter 34

___

Austin's POV

"Hey." I sighed to myself as I picked up the phone.

"Hi." The voice said through the device.

"Why did you call...?" I started getting pissed as memories from Hawaii flooded back into my mind.

"I just wanted to say that I'm really, really sorry about what happened with us. I didn't mean to and I wasn't thinking." She explained, sounding like she was about to cry.

"Taylor, you cheated on me, then got pregnant by him." I stated, annoyed.

"I know, and that was wrong. I'm not saying we should get back together, but can we try to be friends?" She said softly.

I sighed loudly, and thought for a second.

"Friends. No benefits." I said sternly, wanting the conversation to end quickly.

"Okay, that's fine. Oh, and by the way, I'm coming Texas in a few days to visit my cousins in Houston!" She said quickly, quite excited.

"Really? Well... Say hi or something." I said, not very surprised.

"Will do." She laughed.

"Um, I gotta go, talk to you later?" I asked, rolling my eyes.

"Yup, bye!" She squealed, then hung up.

This bitch.

Alyssa's POV

"Hey." I smiled to myself as I picked up the phone.

"Hey." I heard him say sweetly.

"What's up?" My voice was soft.

"Are you doing anything tonight?" He asked.

"No, what about you?" I answered.

"Nope. Wanna go see a movie with Austin?" He spoke.

"Austin, why are you speaking third person." I laughed to myself.

"Cause Alex does sometimes and I wanted to try it out." He chuckled.

"You're an idiot." I laughed.

"Your idiot." He reminded.

"Psh shut up" I giggled.

"So do you wanna go catch a movie tonight?" He said after a few laughs.

"Sure, pick me up in 5." I smiled.

"See ya." I could hear him smiling We hung up shortly after and I went to find a cute outfit

I dug through my closet until I came across light blue denim high-waisted shorts, a grey Hard Rock Café muscle tank, a black knit cardigan, and I pulled my hair up in a messy ponytail. Then I slipped on my black Toms and grabbed my phone, heading out my room and down to the front door.

As I reached the last step of the staircase, I quickly felt a hand grab my by the waist and cover their hand over my mouth.

"Where do you think you're going." The voice said, trying to sound all cereal killy.

I quickly broke free from their grip and turned around to face Brent who was now laughing so hard.

"You should've seen you- OW." He started but I smacked his arm hard.

"Don't touch me..." I pointed a finger and glared at him.

"Sorry Miss Don't-Touch-Me." He put his hands up in defeat.

"You better be. And I'm just going to see a movie with my... friend." I turned to walk to the door. I opened it and stepped out before Brent could say anything. Immediately, the mix of cold and warm air hit my face and it was refreshing. I walked past the small gate in the front and saw Austin in his car. I fast walked to his car, not wanting him to wait any longer. I opened the car door and slid in to be greeted by an adorable, smiling face.

"Hey." He smiled as he put his phone in his pocket.

"Hi." I beamed. Then he started the car and began to drive. We arrived at the movies in ten minutes. We could have walked but it would have taken 35 minutes. I wouldn't mind if it was a different day, but I just felt overly tired today. No reason why, I just did.

"Let's watch a scary movie." Austin held my hand as we walked to the ticket box.

"No! I hate scary movies!" I gasped.

"It's ok, I'm here." He chuckled.

"Two tickets for The Purge please." Austin paid for the tickets and we went in to buy candy and popcorn. After we got into the theater, we sat next to a couple of guys who were apparently on their phones.

"Hey Austin! What are you doing here?" One of the guys said. Then I realized who it was.

"Robert? What are you doing here?" Austin did a handshake with him.

"Zach, Alex, and I came to watch The Purge." Robert pointed to the two guys who still focused on their phones.

"Well Alyssa and I just came to hang out." He explained and tossed a few bits of popcorn into his mouth.

"Just to 'hang out'..." Zach said with air quotes.

"Yeah, can't a guy and his girlfriend just hang out?" Austin laughed.

They started drifting off into another conversation on who knows what. I wasn't really paying attention. All I could think about is how I felt when Austin said girlfriend. It just gave me a... feeling. A feeling that I couldn't really describe. The way it rolled off his tongue.

A guy and his girlfriend.
