Chapter 5

___

Alyssa's POV

I was glad when Austin didn't ask me out on our walk. Maybe I just assumed too many things.

It was actually kind of nice, though. I learned a lot about him. I learned that he's actually very sensitive, his favorite color is red, the number 74 scares him, and he is an only child.

At school the next day, I was still stared at from everyone in the school. It was nice having all the attention, but not when you're eating. That's just weird. I became best friends again with Madison. We told each other everything that happened while I was gone. I missed having such a good friend to talk to, especially if it was an old friend.

The bell rang for fifth period, Spanish, and Austin was in my class. I could feel him staring at me the whole time. A couple times he tried talking to me, but I made the conversation hard to continue. I don't know if it was just  my unusually arrogant mood today, or if I'm just normally bad at making conversation.

During lunch, Madison, Austin, Alex, and Robert came and sat with me. I was facing Austin and Madison was facing Robert, leaving Alex at the end next to Austin. We all started talking about what I did in Florida. While I was explaining, a tall, handsome guy came up to me. He sat right next to me and smiled.

"Hi. I don't believe we've met before. I'm Travis." He said.

"I'm Alyssa." I smiled back, knowing Austin would definitely get mad at me for giving my attention to another guy.

"So you're new here?" He asked.

"Yeah." I replied.

"Well I hope to see you around again." He winked, then walked away. I turned to the table to see everyone staring at me.

"What?" I laughed, continuing to eat my food. I felt Austin's leg brush against mine. I looked up to see him talking, acting like nothing just happened under the table. I ignored it at first, but then I felt his foot step on my foot. I tried ignoring that too, but he stepped on my foot again.

"Ow!" I yelled. Austin turned to me and gave me an evil smirk. I glared at him before tucking my feet under my chair.

After school, Madison and I returned to our usual routine of going to the plaza and getting Starbucks, before heading home and watching movies/doing our homework together.

I was laying on my stomach on the bed as Madison was sitting in the chair next to me.

"Hey, are you still friends with..." I began, not wanting to offend her if the answer was the opposite of what I was hoping.

"Riley?" She looked up from her phone that she had been texting on. "No. Turns out, she moved to New York yesterday."

"Okay." I nodded understandingly.

"Yeah, she became a complete attention whore." Madison shook her head. "I don't even know why you were friends with her."

"I don't know either." I let out a small laugh, propping my head up with my head.

"So, I've notice the tension between you and Austin." She countered, leaning forward in her chair.

"What tension?"

"Come on, we all know you guys have a thing for each other." She giggled.

"Do not." I disagreed.

"Whatever you say." Madison smirked, shrugging her shoulders.

Have you guys ever realized that TLC's shows are mostly of young kids doing adult-like things like Toddlers and Tiaras or Cheer Perfection? Not that I don't like them! I was just watching TLC and the commercial was like 'Cheer Perfection, followed my Toddlers and Tiaras and Honey Boo Boo.' I love those shows though:)
