I drove home after school to my new house. I kind of lost my way because I wasn't used to where the house was. Plus, the neighborhood was huge.

I parked in the driveway and locked the car. I went into the house and walked to the kitchen, finding something to eat. I step in and my mom was there with another mom and oh my god...

Austin Mahone.

"Um, mom, what are they doing here?" I pulled her to the side.

"Oh sweetheart, these are our neighbors! Meet Michele Mahone and Austin Mahone. I'm sure you've heard of him, he goes to your school!" My mom said happily.

"Great..." I mumbled while walking to towards the refrigerator.

I could feel Austin's eyes on me the whole time. I walked to the living room and sat down.

I turned the tv on and watched Awkward. Seconds later, I heard footsteps come in and immediately knew it was Austin. I didn't bother turning around.

"Hey Alyssa... Our parents told me to come and talk to you while they talked." Austin said sitting on the couch next to me. I scooted an inch over.

Austin's POV

When Alyssa's mom told me to go talk to her, I thought this was the perfect time to get her to like me.

I walked into the living room and found Alyssa watching Awkward. I explained to her about our parents and sat next to her, followed by a long, uncomfortable silence.

"Well this is awkward." I said looking down at my phone. Alyssa just laughed. A wide smile spread across my face, knowing I crossed her mind when she laughed. We watched a whole episode, then another, until we finally got bored.

"What do you want to do?" Alyssa asked.

"Whatever's fine with you." I replied. I heard someone walk in and it was my mom.

"Austin, we're staying over for dinner." She said, then walked out. I looked at Alyssa and she just looked down. I couldn't tell if she was disappointed, mad, or just bored.

"Hey, you wanna go for a walk?" I asked.

There was another silence. I glanced at her and she seemed to be contemplating her decision, staring off into the distance before snapping back to reality.

"Sure, why not." Alyssa replied, a smile appearing on her face. I couldn't help but smile too.

Alyssa's POV

I can't believe Austin just asked me to go on a walk with him. No, this can't be.

There was a rumor about Austin going around school; he would ask a girl he liked to go on a walk with him and when they were alone, he would ask her out.

Finding myself staring at the wall across the room, I blinked a few times to get back to reality. I turned to face Austin, the image of him as a sixth grader flashing across my mind suddenly.

"Sure, why not." A smile found its way onto my lips. He smiled back, causing my stomach to burst with butterflies.
