Chapter 27
___
Alyssa's POV
"Wake up Alyssa..." I heard someone whisper.
"Mmm..." I mumbled.
"C'mon wake up!" The voice said again. I turned around to see Robert. Um what...?
"What are you doing here." I mumbled again, squinting my eyes.
"Everyone wanted me to wake you up, I have no idea why." He sat on the bed.
"Well I'm up." I sat straight and rubbed my eyes. "What day is it..." I sighed.
"Monday." Robert replied quickly, focused on his phone.
I trudged downstairs to see everyone was already up. Do I really sleep that late?
"Finally, you're up!" Madison threw her arms up.
"Why...?" I went to the kitchen.
"We have school today." Alex whined.
Oh yeah...
I ran back upstairs to get changed when I just so happened to run in Austin.
"I'm sorry, are you ok?" He put his hand on my shoulder.
"Yeah, I'm fine..." I said quietly. Then I fast walked into my room and shut the door. That wasn't awkward at all.
I went to my closet and picked out a light blue tank top with a cross on it and black leggings to go with my beige colored moccasins.
___
*ringgggggg*
Yup. That's the bell for school. I cannot and I repeat, cannot live through three more months of this hellhole.
I walked to my locker quickly to put my books away. Same routine every day... Then I walked quickly to home room. I took my seat next to Austin and still kept my plan going from the beginning. I would just ignore Austin everyday at school, and only talk to him after school. Yeah that's right Austin, not every girl you think is hot will make it that easy for you.
I listened as they broadcasted the announcements on the small television hanging in the corner of the room. Same old announcements about lunch... Anything new yet? Nope. After they finished, my home room teacher started talking about stuff that I didn't understand because I started thinking about Austin.
"No Alyssa, you shouldn't. You don't know if he will just use you." My mind shot at me.
But what if he doesn't? I mean, we used to be best friends. I don't know what happened but we did. We used to go over to each others' houses and have 'playdates'. And now? Well, I don't know anymore. What happened to my best friend?
The bell for first period snapped me out of my thoughts and I grabbed my things, hurrying out the door.
School went pretty normal. Nothing new. Ahh.
But it was lunch that was most interesting. Austin seemed to be staring at me more than ever, no idea why. We sat across from each other and I sat next to Madison. "Hey can you help put these posters up after lunch? Thanks!" She handed me a few campaign posters. All of them which said 'Vote Madison Hughes for president!'.
"Are you seriously interested in running for president?" I raised an eyebrow as I flipped through a stack of the same papers.
"Of course! I need to create an image, Madison Hughes is sophisticated and mature, yet daring and fashionable." She aspired, using hand motions in the air.
"Well I'm not gonna stop you. And sure, I'll put these up later." I laughed and hugged her. I pulled back and caught Austin eyeing us. I smirked at him and he just stared back.
"Can we go now?" I looked towards Madison.
"Yeah!" She said getting up. I followed her and walked around the table to where Austin sat. Quietly, I walked by him and brushed my hand on his shoulder. I took a few steps and turned back, smirking at him. His facial expression was stunned like a deer in the headlights.
___
*after school*
"Hey Alyssa!" Madison ran up to me in her black heels and her short black dress. Yup, she has an interesting fashion sense for school.
"Hey Madison." I smiled.
"Do you need a ride home?" She asked in her sweet voice.
"Sure, thanks." I walked with her to her car. I got in and immediately, my phone buzzed.
"*new text message: Austin*
Austin: we need to talk."
