A Little Too Not Over You by David Archuleta

Alyssa's POV
The next day wasn't a surprise when I woke up late for school. I sighed myself as I got out of bed and brushed my hair. I had approximately 20 minutes to get ready and eat breakfast.
My ensemble consisted of nothing interesting, a sweatshirt and leggings, along with a pair of Converse. My hair did not want to be tamed today so I quickly gathered it up and twisted it into a simple bun. Good enough.
No makeup for me today. I don't want to be mistaken as the school slut.
By the time I finished, I only had 7 minutes to be out the door. I still hadn't eaten breakfast yet so I predict I will be late for school.
I stuck with a bagel for breakfast and chewed on it as I walked out the door. Great. No car.
I remember I had let my mom borrow it for work since hers was in the shop. She had gotten tail-gated a few days ago so she decided it was time to get it fixed up.
I guess I could use a little exercise and walk to school. I would be tardy but it's better than nothing. It was nearing the end of the school year, meaning summer was just around the corner. The sun was out and the dew from last night's unexpected drizzle lingered on the petals of flowers and atop the leaves on the towering trees.
Walking alone was very frightening, I'll admit. You never know if a random car can just pull up next to you and kidnap you. But it's the only way I can get to school so I'll have to cope.
"Need a ride?" A familiar voice called from behind, fear beginning to build up in me. I whipped my head around, ready to witness whatever lay behind me, only to see Alex. I slowed my pace as his car inched closer to me, coming to a screeching halt.
"Hop in." He nodded his head. I opened the passenger door and slid in, the warmness from inside the car engulfing me.
It wasn't until I turned around that I saw the last person I wanted to see today. Low and behold, Austin.
I caught his eye quicker than I hoped and his hazel orbs bored into mine, causing an uncomfortable tension to rise. He shifted in his seat and cleared his throat before looking down at his phone. I swallowed and looked down at my lap as Alex sped off towards the school.

In English class, we were assigned partner projects and yet again, I was stuck with Austin. I managed to stick through the whole 50 minutes without having to have a major conversation with Austin. We said a few words and left the rest for each other to figure out.
By now, my feelings for Austin have been all over the place. One part of me is urging me to get back with him but the other is holding me back, telling me that he will just hurt me again and I would have to go through the process of heartbreak for the hundredth time. I'm not quite sure how Austin has been feeling. Considering he has been talking to Jessica lately, I seem to have already been cut out of the picture. If there was even a picture to start with.
Lunch was the most interesting time. Since I was a sophomore now, it was an open campus so we were allowed to leave school for lunch. Alex suggested on taking us -me, Madison, Robert, and of course, Austin- to Subway which just happened to be a few blocks down from the school.
The worst part was, Austin brought Jessica with him. Everyone sat quietly in the car as we drove out of the school and to our destination. Without a doubt, I could tell this was not going to end well.
We arrived at Subway and walked in to see not many people, maybe a few friends from school and some random families.
After ordering our subs and receiving our sandwiches, Madison and I sat in our own booth with the rest of our group in the booth next to us. I was not in the mood to sit near Jessica at all. Why is she even here?
"Stop looking over there." Madison snapped, distracting me from my thoughts.
"I can't help it." I mumbled, picking out an unwanted bell pepper from my sub.
Madison just sighed and continued to eat her lunch as my eyes trailed back to Austin's table. His back was facing me but I could often see his profile whenever he turned to the side.
"Hey," Madison spoke again, "why don't we go to a concert this Friday? It'll help you get your mind off things."
"Is anyone else going?" I asked slowly.
Madison shook her head a little too quickly, "Nope, just you and me."
"Okay." I nodded slightly, crumpling up my wrapper.

*Friday night*
"Wear something nice." Madison bumped my shoulder as she passed me to get to my closet.
"It's just a concert, not like a movie premiere." I shrugged, sitting on the bed.
"Yeah, but if you wear something nice, he will probably noti-" Madison stopped herself as she flung a hand over her mouth.
"He? Who's he?"
"What? I didn't say he, I said... we." Madison stammered before shuffling through my closet of clothes.
I raised an eyebrow, then asked the question that had been lingering in my mind for a while now. "Who's concert are we going to?"
"Just some singer from the block, no one big." She answered, throwing an article of clothing at me.
"What's his name...?"
"A-Andrew ... Meyers..." She said, unsure of her reply.
"Do you even know who he is?" I laughed quietly.
"Maybe. Enough of the questions, we have to get ready!" Madison rushed around the room.
I picked out a black skater skirt, along with a white tank top and a beige cardigan. I kept things simple by wearing my black hightops. I straightened my hair, not very pleased with a curled or braided look.
"You done?" Madison tapped my arm as I walked about in my room.
"Yeah, you?" I asked, pausing to look at her. Her ensemble consisted of a nice crop tank top, dark jeans, a black jacket, and black heels.
I grabbed my phone and followed Madison out the front door before getting into the car, ready to arrive at wherever we were about to go. Madison took the wheel as I sat in the passenger seat, carelessly scrolling through whichever social media site would entertain me.
After a long drive, we pulled up in front of a large arena.
"You said this was just some singer on the block..." I furrowed my eyebrows as I noticed the dozens of screaming girls crowded around the arena doors.
Instead of replying, Madison kept quiet as she parked the car and we both got out. I still had no idea who we were seeing and I was slowly becoming suspicious. I could hear the screaming girls from all the way across the parking lot and I'm pretty sure Europe could hear them too. We walked up to the front doors just as they were letting everyone in. Madison showed security our tickets and we went inside. The arena was filled quickly, girls screaming and jumping up and down.
Wow, this Andrew kid must be really famous.
Our seats were on the floor, fourth row. The view of the stage was pretty clear though. The concert would start any minute and the room was completely filled with excited fans. And here I was, not even knowing who's concert I was at.
The lights dimmed and a familiar tune begin to start. A few dancers popped up from under the stage as the intro of the song still played.
I swear I've heard this song before.
A boy around my age approached from the stage, the dark lights still shadowing his face. He looked familiar but I could have just been imagining it.
The spotlight appeared and that's when everything started to fall into place.
I was at Austin's concert.

I have slight OCD (not really) and I'm going to end this story soon but I need it to be an even chapter. So there will probably be 50 or 52 chapters, I'm not sure yet.
So anyways, how was your guys' Halloween? did you get a lot of candy?
Well for me, I'm finally getting my braces off today so I can't eat a lot of candy but afterwards, I'm pretty sure I'm going to gain ten thousand pounds.
What did you think of the chapter?
