Chapter 42
___
Alyssa's POV
"Wait."
I felt a hand on my arm, preventing me from going anywhere.
"What." I said, my tone a bit annoyed.
"Does this mean we're together?" He raised an eyebrow.
"Does what mean we're back together?" I crossed my arms.
"Don't think I forgot what happened before the show." He shook his head and laughed like it was the stupidest thing in the world.
"What happened?" I said innocently.
"Stop that." He snapped.
"Stop what?" I tipped my head.
"Stop pretending to forget everything!" His voice rose, making me feel the slightest bit uncomfortable.
"I-I wasn't..." I looked down.
"Oh really." He crossed his arms.
"Mhmm." I hummed, pretending to look at my nails.
"We'll settle this later. We're going home." He grabbed my wrist and pulled my towards the exit.
"Let go." I struggled with pulling away from his grip.
"What?" He spat, whipping his head around.
Wow, what a huge mood change...
"I said let go." I muttered.
He rolled his eyes and continued pulling me out of the building.
Gosh, what is wrong with him...
Surprisingly, Austin got into the drivers seat of my car, leaving me to sit on the passengers side.
"Hey, I want Starbucks." I poked him.
"Too bad." He answered, keeping his eyes on the rode as he drove. I shot him a glare but he didn't seem to be bothered.
I let out an exaggerated sigh and rested my head on the side window.
___
"Okay, what's with the lying." Austin slammed my bedroom door shut, creating a loud noise that made me cringe.
I simply shrugged and walked over to my bed, flopping down on it and turning the tv on. As quickly as I turned it on, Austin turned it off.
"Hey... I like watching Catfish..." I pouted, turning it back on.
Once again, Austin grabbed the remote out of my hand and turned it off, chucking the device to the other side of the room.
"Now tell me." He crossed his arms and looked down at me like a giant.
"Tell you what." I criss crossed my legs and hugged a pillow.
"What's up with the lying?" He repeated, throwing his hands out for emphasis.
"What do you mean..." I tried looking anywhere but into his eyes.
"I know you lied about not remembering me." He repeated.
"And." I mumbled.
"Why?" He asked.
I kept silent, like I have hundreds of times today.
"Why." His tone was more demanding now, which started to frighten me. It was the same tone he used when he used to bully me in middle school. And now the memories are flashing in my mind.
"Answer me." He kneeled down so he was eye level.
I shook my head quickly before getting up from the bed and walking towards the door.
"I said answer me." He grabbed both of my arms and spun me around.
What was I supposed to say?
"Why were you lying?" He asked again, backing me up against the wall. His voice was now full of anger, just like I remembered it used to be. This was the side of Austin I was waiting to see, just so I can prove to him that he only wants me because I'm not the same fat and ugly girl I was years ago. He's still the same player he was years ago. I knew it.
"Alyssa." He snapped me out of my thoughts.
"What?" I looked up at him.
"God, you're so dumb." I heard him mumble to himself.
"Oh, I'm the dumb one." I finally spoke. "You're the one who even wanted to be with me, you knew you couldn't." I raised my voice, immediately regretting it because I knew Austin would do the same.
"Why did you even say yes if you didn't want to then?" His voice rose, just like I predicted.
"Are you saying you didn't want to?" I was yelling now.
"No, but I know you didn't." He yelled back.
"And what makes you think that?"
"You've been lying to me! Did you think I wouldn't find out sooner or later that you didn't want to be with me?" He continued yelling.
"Well I was going to tell you-" I was cut off by a heating pain on my right cheek.
Austin had slapped me.
