Austin's POV

I was sitting in the waiting room impatiently as the doctors were operating on Alyssa after the crash.

I felt like shit.

Today was supposed to be a relaxed day. But the dumb paparazzi had to ruin it.

It was mostly my fault though. She told me to slow down and I didn't, resulting in a collision with a semi truck. I wasn't hurt badly, and neither were the guys. Just a few bruises and cuts here and there, nothing life threatening. But Alyssa took the most impact because the truck ran into the passenger side.

All I wanted to do was get her home safely. But I did the complete opposite of that. I ended up hurting her.

So all I can do now is sit in this somewhat uncomfortable hospital chair and hope for the best.

Alex and Robert were sitting across from me, Robert's head on Alex's shoulder as he slept. I could understand why because it's 1:00 right now.

Man, they take so long to operate, gosh.

Alex was just giving me this weird look for a while, considering the fact there was another dude sleeping on his shoulder. I found it slightly funny. And that was the only thing that made me laugh this whole time.

"Hello, I'm Dr. Shields. Which one of you is closest to Alyssa Madden?" A tall man walked out of the double doors.

I stood up as Alex did too, causing Robert to jolt out of his nap, standing up afterwards.

"I'm her boyfriend, Austin Mahone." I stated.

"Nice to meet you." He held out a hand which I took. "Well, looks like Alyssa took a pretty big impact. She looks like she's doing fine with healing, but we have a concern about one thing. Alyssa looked like she was hit on the head with either the front of the truck, or the window, we aren't very sure. We hate to break it to you, but we're not sure about how she will do when she wakes up." He paused, allowing me to take in everything he just said.

"W-what do you mean, when she wakes up...?" I furrowed my eyebrows.

"We mean, we won't be sure if she will wake up at all. And if she does, there's a possibility that she will have memory loss." He clarified.

"Can... Can we see her?" I asked softly, my voice cracking from choking back the tears that were forming in the back of my eyes.

"We have her in room 307 which is on the second floor. You can go up now, the nurses should have everything set up already." He nodded, giving me a pat on the back before saying, "I wish you the best of luck." And with that, he turned around and left.

"Did you call Alyssa's parents?" I looked to Alex, realizing we hadn't told them anything that happened yet.

"Yeah. But they're in Florida right now. They told me to tell you to take care of her and they'd be home in a few days." He nodded, glancing at Robert who had sat back down and fallen asleep.
