Knife had become obsessed with haunting Trophy. Desperate to feel something real again, he begged Goo to let him use his body, it was the closest thing he'd had to having a physical form in a long time. With it, he could shapeshift back into himself... and actually touch Trophy.

Goo refused. Knife did it anyway. Somehow, he managed to lure Trophy back into the mansion, trapping him there once more just to torment him. But beneath all of it, beneath the cruelty and the control there was a simpler reason driving him. He wanted to be close to Trophy. He missed him.

Ever since that last challenge, when Knife used Goo's body to haunt and torment Trophy, he hadn't been able to let it go. He missed it. He missed the way Trophy reacted, the little jumps and startled expressions, the way his voice would crack when he got scared. He missed seeing his face, really seeing it, instead of just watching from a distance as something unseen. More than anything, he missed having a body, something physical, something real, so he could actually reach out and touch him.

It lingered in his mind far longer than it should have. Knife couldn't quite explain what about it kept pulling him back, but it had been the most fun he'd had in a long time. Living in the mansion wasn't exactly helping. Bow and Dough were fine, nice, even... but they were also loud, overbearing, and constantly getting on his nerves. Marshmallow... that was complicated. Their history hung in the air every time they crossed paths. Things had changed since those early days, since everything that had happened between them, since the reason Knife was even a ghost now. There was an awkward distance there that neither of them seemed willing to address.

And Apple... Apple was just exhausting. Always insisting on ghost "slumber parties," always wanting attention, always turning everything into something loud and overwhelming.

Visitors were rare. Suitcase stopped by every now and then to check on him, which was... something.

But never Trophy. Knife didn't understand why that bothered him so much, but it did. Even back in Season 2, when Trophy had been at the hotel and Knife was still in the game, he'd noticed the absence. He missed their back-and-forth, the constant banter, the way they'd get under each other's skin. He'd even tried, once. At the finalists' party, he'd approached Trophy, attempted to talk like things were normal, but Trophy had shut him out completely.

Maybe that was where all of this was coming from. Because when Knife haunted him, Trophy paid attention. Not willingly, not happily, but he did. It was something.

Trapping him in the mansion, forcing him into those little "games"... it guaranteed a reaction. It gave Knife something to work with, something to push against. Trophy always talked big, always acted like Knife was losing his edge, but the truth was, Trophy had never really had one to begin with. He was softer than he let on, all bark and no bite. And honestly? It was kind of cute.

The way he got nervous. The way he tried to act tough and failed the moment something actually happened. The way he'd panic, even though he knew the mansion was haunted, knew exactly who was behind it. Knife loved it. And he wanted more. He needed more.

That's why he'd called Goo. Again and again, dozens of times, practically begging to use his body just one more time. It had worked so well before. Unlike possessing random objects, Goo's form actually let him reshape himself, become something closer to who he used to be.

But Goo refused.

He didn't want to scare Trophy anymore. As far as he was concerned, it was over. They'd had their moment, Trophy had apologized for everything, and there was no reason to keep dragging it out.
