The nurse-Pam paced anxiously back and forth. The poor blonde's lip quivered and her hands shook. Evangeline eyed her sympathetically. "What if we all have it? What if we all go crazy?" the woman began her voice on the verge of panic.
"You've got to stay calm. All we can do is wait. The Marshal's bringing help." The doctor attempted to soothe the woman.
"I can't, I . . . I've got to go" she sputtered before she dashed out the room.
Sam and Evangeline shared a look, a quiet understanding and the huntress gave the boy a nod as he raced after the nurse.
Dr. Lee watched Sam go after the nurse, she bit her lip anxiously. Evangeline was never that good with soothing people but she attempted "It's going to be okay" she whispered softly. It was the same words she had told her sister. This time, it wouldn't be a lie.
The doctor didn't look so convinced "how can you be so sure?"
"Because, Me, Dean and Sam, we take care of stuff like this all the time" she pushed out any ounce of confidence she had hoping it would soak into her tone and sound like she knew how to fix it all.
Dr. Lee tilted her head in disbelief.
"Well, we handle dangerous stuff all the time" she corrected, remembering their cover as Marshall's. "We'll figure this out" she assured, sending the woman a small smile.
Dr. Lee gave a small smile back, looking slightly more at ease, though the tension in her shoulders remained.
At the sound of a distant door opening Evangeline perked up. "Be right back" she muttered before dashing off.
Evangeline approached the waiting room spotting Dean and the same man they saw by the fishing sign earlier that day, both armed with guns.
Dean spotted the two gesturing his head for them to follow. Once the trio was in private Dean began to speak "What's going on out there, Dean?" Sam asked.
"Man, I don't know, I feel like Chuck Heston in the Omega Man, I mean, Sarge is the only sane person I could find. What are we dealing with, do you know?"
"Yeah. Doc thinks it's a virus".
"Okay, great. What do you guys think?"
Sam and Evangeline shared an uneasy look "we think she's right." She answered.
He looked between the both of them in disbelief "Really?"
"Yeah. And I think the infected are trying to infect others with blood-to-blood contact. Oh, but it gets better. The uh, the virus? Leaves traces of sulfur in the blood." Sam finished.
