~Inside Zeus cabin~
Gathered in an inside the bright white cabin, Kira, Alex, Eleana and Jake were sat in a thick silence, only the distant buzz of campers preparing for capture the flag playing in the background.
The cabin was sparsely decorated, three beds, each one completely different. Jake's bed sat closest to the entrance, green sheets, bedside table cluttered with photographs and trinkets. Thalia's bed was opposite his, unmade black sheets, punk magazines, eyeliner and silver chains left precariously balanced on the table beside it.
"You're such a mess." Nico rolled his eyes, shooting Thalia a side eye.
"Yeah, and you stole that eyeliner." Thalia scoffed, pointing an accusatory finger at the screen.
"Borrowed, bitch, and you're the one that said I could use it."
"Well, I still don't have it back." With a huff, Nico dug into his pocket before launching a black makeup pencil at Thalia's face.
The third bed was simple, beside Jake's it sat with perfectly preserved powder blue sheets, wrinkle free and cool. Beside it, upon the bedside table, was nothing but a hair tie, lip balm and pencil. Relics of a time when Cassiopeia used to call this cabin her own too, left behind when she found new abode in the Nyx cabin they had constructed for her.
"What do we do?" Eleana's voice broke the silence, soft and uncertain as an early spring breeze, her fingers working restlessly to weave calla lilies into a crown. "Hyacinth is gone. Mr D will not let us search for her. What are we supposed to do now?"
"We go back to England." Alex said plainly, elbow perched on his knees as he sat at the end of Jake's bed.
"Wow, he didn't even think about." Chortling, Barty doubled over and slammed his hand into the table.
"It's really not that funny," Regulus deadpanned, shooting the Ravenclaw a judgmental glance.
"Are you high right now?" Evan grabbed Barty's cheek, turning his head to face him, finding the boy's pupils dilated until the iris barely showed. "Dick, can't believe you got high without me." Huffing, he slapped Barty's cheek lightly.
"You aren't serious." Kira scoffed, shaking her head as she twirled a bronze dagger between her fingers. "Cass is in danger and you're suggesting we leave? You fucking coward. She would never do that to us. Do you think she'd just let Mr D confine her to this place? You spineless-"
"Enough." Jake's voice cut through the air like thunder, thick with guilt but firm with finality. "That is enough, Kira, now isn't a time to be arguing amongst ourselves." Shaking his head, he paced the length of the cabin, footsteps creaking worn floorboards.
Preemptive shame burned in Kira's face, and her eyes found a spot on the stone wall, fixed on a crack in the dull grey stone.
"Then what are you suggesting?" Reluctantly, Kira calmed herself, stabbing the dagger into the floor beside her. "What do you propose we do now? Because I can't sit back and do nothing. I am supposed to protect her, that's my entire duty as head of defence! What if she dies? What then?" A solum atmosphere pressed down on the four, suffocating and bitter as it lodged in their throats.
"We have to have faith." Eleana mumbles, looking up from her flowers. "Hyacinth is capable, she can look after herself, and Annabeth too. I know you're eager to get her back, Kiki, but we can't just rush this. It'll only make things worse."
"Leana is right." Jake nods, pushing a hand through his curls. "What would Hyacinthus want us to do? We can't abandon our duties, especially not now. We have to go back to England and watch over the kingdom, we swore to her we would."
"The kingdom is more important than my daughter?" James' eyes narrowed, oak turning to obsidian as they darkened with frustration. "A kingdom that had a working government still?"
