[pewdie's pov]

I slip the key into the lock and open the door to Amy's house. The drive home was safe, nobody was on the roads, but for some reason I was feeling incredibly tense. Something was going to happen, and soon. I just... I'm not exactly sure if it's a bad event or a good event.

My stomach growls, so I walk into the kitchen to grab a snack before I go upstairs. The lights are all off, and my heart stops when I can make the faint outline of a person sitting at one of our kitchen tables. Flipping on the light, I catch my breath.

Who is it going to be this time? Ken? Mark? My vote is on Mark.

But it's nobody threatening. Nate's asleep, his face smashed on the table, hand still inside the very trail mix bag that I was planning on eating.

"Nate?" I whisper, and he stirs. Tears fill my eyes. He's awake two days earlier than planned. Walking briskly over to where he sits, I grab his shoulders and shake. One large blue eye blinks open and stares up at me with dim recognition.

(does he not recognize me...?)

But right as the thought enters my mind, it leaves.

"Hey Pewds," he says happily, like he never left. Nate's eyes light up and I can see the memories behind them as if they're displayed on a screen. "How long have I been asleep for?" I stare at him for longer than I should. "Felix, you're kinda freaking me out. Where am I?

"Nate..." I wrap my arms around him and squeeze, giving him a death hug. He gasps for air and smacks at my back, trying to get me to let go. After I pull away, he flails for a second, being his old goofy self.

"So, what's up?" Large innocent blue eyes stare back at me. "I just woke up upstairs a bit ago, came downstairs and ate some food. I saw this note on the counter..."

party, bring food? nate 2 days left

"And I realized you all must have gone to Genia's or something, without me and stuff."

"Um, well..." I'm at a loss for words. How can he not remember what we went through? Getting hit by a car? And how is it possible that he woke up here, and not in the hospital. He couldn't have walked. None of the nurses would bring him back, they would want him to stay for a while.

Nobody at the party could have brought him here.

And neither would Ken, he's with Jake, and their plan is going to happen in two days unless Cry gets rid of me. So that only leaves one person... Mark. Nate is looking more freaked out by the second, and I struggle with what to say. Do I lie to him, or tell him the truth?

(lie lie lie lie)

A lie streams out of my mouth before I can stop it.

"Sorry about that, kid. We didn't want to wake you up, you seemed really tired. Wasn't too exciting anyway, Genia and I got in kind of a fight." His eyes widen.

"Not again? Really, Fe?"

"Yeah... we fought again. What do you remember before you fell asleep?" His face screws up and I can see him struggling with the thoughts inside of his head.

"Well, I remember going out to get ice cream. Nothing after that. Did I fall asleep in the car?" I nod a bunch of times, almost frantically. He stares at me with narrowed eyes. "Felix, really. Are you okay?"

"Um. Yes.Totally. One hundred percent. Why wouldn't I be okay? I'm like the king of being okay." I stumble over my words and realize a second later that nothing I just said sounds convincing. "Well, there's a little bit more to the story, but Cry is going to have to tell you because it's kind of long and depressing and makes no sense. At all. And I'm not a good explainer so-" Nate looks beyond confused. He cuts me off by holding up his hand mid-rant.

"What?"

"You know what. Nevermind. You should go back to bed, it's late." I help him up. Since he hasn't used his legs in so long they wobble. He looks confused for a second, probably wondering why his legs won't work, but regains his balance. I usher him toward the stairs.

"When is Cry going to be home? Nothing happened, right Felix?" He looks up at me intently, as if he's trying to read me and it's so close to how Cry looks at me that I flinch. They're so alike, yet different. It's kind of unsettling sometimes.

"Nope. He'll be home soon. And he's not going to be happy that you're up!" I tickle him and he giggles.

"You're right. Plus, I guess I am really tired. I feel like I slept forever, but not in the good way. The way that makes you more tired when you wake up. You know what I mean?" I nod, and he turns away and starts up the stairs. "Night, Felix!"

"Night," I say, and turn away too, still intent on finding food.

Wow, I am going to have a lot of explaining to do when Cry gets home.

I can't tell if we've won yet or lost.
