That gun is loaded but it’s not in my hands,” I sing in a quiet, self-conscious voice, knocking on the library door.  Both Pewdie and I are soaked to the skin. The rain has calmed down to a light drizzle. “The fire burns, I’m not the one with the match.” I hear footsteps run toward the door, Nate, obviously. Pewdie watches this all with interest.

I’ve seen it all before, you back out, and everything’s changing. I need something more, you stepped down, so what are you chasing?” Nate’s voice is low, like mine, but we both can sing at a pretty good range.

I realize that I got red hands, I wanna change this. Don’t ask me why I choose to lie, I stay blind.” Nate laughs from inside, hopefully at my wonderful voice, and the door flies open. Pewdie is smiling at our singing… hopefully not because we sucked, but because we sang great. Usually we don’t do the code song anymore… I haven’t sung it in a long time, because I rarely go through the front door, but I wanted to let Pewdie know that I’m starting to trust him a little more. The thing in the rain that just happened… that was something more.

“Hi, you must be Nate. I’m Felix, or Pewdie. I’m not sure if you’ve heard of me.” Pewds sticks out his hand, and Nate happily takes it. I know immediately that these two are going to get along well, which makes me happy.

“Nate, Felix is here to do a project.” We both walk in, and for some reason Nate can’t stop smiling. “Is Amy coming? Can you go get us towels?”

“Um… I don’t think so. She said she was coming over tomorrow and bringing you a surprise. She gave me headphones and a small iPod yesterday… she said we have to share.” I pause and hand Nate a book in my bag… something I stole from our school library, one book this library doesn’t have. Felix watches this, confused.

“I got this from the library,” I say, handing a book named Eragon to him. “I know you like these kinds of books…” I stop talking realizing he’s not even listening anymore. He’s curled up against the wall, reading. So much for getting us towels.

“You guys love stories?” He looks around, asking a pretty stupid question. “I’m not much of a reader… I like videogames, though.”

“Never played them,” I say, and he flinches. I wave him toward the back of the library, where the century old computers are. “Anyways, what is this project even about?”

“You’ve never played videogames?” he says, and I shrug. I’ve never had the time or money for them… even though part of me has always wanted to sit down and pick up a controller.

“No, Pewdie, we already made that clear,” I say tiredly, and he rolls his eyes. “Anyways, like I asked, what is the project on?”

“Constellations. You’re lucky I already know a lot about them.” He sits down and starts the computer.

“You seem very at ease around me,” I say warily, and he smiles. I pull up a chair next to him. Our shoulders brush across each other, and I praise the sun that I’m wearing a hoodie so I don’t have to feel his skin again. It makes me want to kiss him.
