a/n: *IMPORTANT PLEASE READ*

hello babees! welcome to chapter 47.

i have some important info to share!

we are starting a new arc in this story, which will be a lot different for a bit that what you've read so far. it might last 6-10 chapters and then we are on to the ending of the story.

this will be by far my favorite arc, and it might seem a little strange at first but i hope you all can roll with it. :)

this story is estimated to be about 64 chapters or more (depending on how long i make them and such). there will not be a sequel think but i'm not exactly sure yet. maybe maybe not. the sequel would be really dragging things out i think when this story is already long.

anyways! have a good day cutie <3 love yoouuuuuuuuuu >.<

"Hey Nate, what do you think about this?" I pick up as many nutella jars as I can and try to put them in the cart. Nate looks at me and raises his eyebrows.

"Well, I guess. Nutella does last for a while. We need canned stuff and such." Nate and I are at the grocery store, buying food for the trip. Well, not trip exactly. Hopefully we won't be coming back. Is it bad that I don't feel very guilty? I want to live, and I think getting away will let us live. I still feel a little bit of guilt for convincing Cry to leave, because I know that Ken might retaliate. But this life isn't all I want to know. I want to get away from this place. I want to remember that I am a living, breathing person.

I just want to have a little bit of hope.

"Felix, you okay? I never thought someone could look so sad while holding macaroni and cheese." Nate takes more boxes off the shelf. It seems a bit selfish (all I've been lately, I guess) but my parents left behind a lot of money which is helping us pay for this trip. Without their money, we wouldn't be able to make this happen.

"Do you think we are doing the right thing?" Nate starts to sort out the cart, and doesn't answer me for a little while.

"We can never really know what is the right choice, until something goes wrong."

"Wow, aren't you just a fucking philosopher," I say with a laugh. He rolls his eyes and throws out his hip, acting like a little shit.

"You're the one who asked, asshole." We don't even try to stop Nate from cussing anymore. The kid does what he wants most of the time. Honestly, it's just a comfort to realize that he's not in a coma, and he is there to cuss at us and act like a smartass.

"Yeah, yeah. Do you think we have enough?" Our whole cart is filled to the brim with things that won't run out quickly, and that will last us. "At least until we can start hunting and foraging for ourselves."

"We do. Let's go." We pay and start pushing out the cart.

"You ready," I whisper to Nate. "Let's put on a good show."

"Okay," he says, as we turn into an alleyway. "Act normal."

"God, I can't wait to eat that macaroni. My mouth is just watering, thinking about it." Nate laughs, and wow that kid is a natural. He starts to speak, but we're cut off, right on time. Ken walks out of the shadows, a gun pointed at us.

"Cry should have never left you alone. Where you going, Pewdie?" He walks closer. "You two are coming with me." I hold up my hands and Nate does the same.

"Okay, okay. We don't want any trouble..." I clap my hand together, and people start to emerge from the darkness. Russ, Snake, and Jund all walk down different paths to the center of the alleyway, all guns pointed at Ken.

"What is this?" He yells, looking around.

"I knew you would take the bait," Cry says. Ken whips around, and comes face to face with Cry. He's surrounded. Ken stumbles back, right into Russ, who leers over him. Jund takes one side, Snake the other. I wonder where Red went, she was supposed to be here too.

"Come on guys," he laughs nervously. "We should talk this out." I grab Nate and pull at his shirt. We start pushing the cart away.

"What are you doing? You're just going to leave Cry back there with them?" Nate looks back, and I push him forward. "Felix, we can't leave him alone with Ken! Even with Russ, and Jund, and Snake there. He's not safe!"

"Whatever they're doing to him, Nate... you don't want to see." I can see him on the edge of arguing more, but the fight leaves his eyes when a yell of pain comes from behind us. "Come on," I say. "Let's go unload all of this and wait in the car."

"Okay," he mutters, and we walk off.

>>>>

"How can you stand it?" He asks while we unload everything. "What he's doing. What he's done. You don't even seem fazed by it. Does it not bother you anymore?" I put the bag of nutella in the car, and then another while I think about an answer.

"I know he's still a good person. The things you have done don't always define you. I still love him, anyway." Nate looks at me and opens and closes his mouth. He obviously can't find anything to say. "Plus, I don't think there is such thing as a truly good person. We've all done bad things. Some just worse than others, you know?"

"I don't think I agree, but that's okay." We keep unpacking in silence. Cry is taking too long. We finish unpacking just as a figure walks out of the alleyway, carrying someone else.

"Nate, get into the car, and start it," I say firmly. He complies without arguing. I run toward Cry.

"What happened?" He is holding Red, who has been shot in the leg. Jund, Russ, and Snake are nowhere to be seen. "Red, fuck. Are you okay?"

"Fine... it just grazed me. He shot me before he came in, and I left it open. I'm the reason he got away before Cry could kill him..." She closes her eyes. "Sorry, guys. I'm so sorry."

"It's okay. Did you do any damage?" Cry grins darkly.

"I took out the fuckers other eye. He won't be bothering us for a long, long time. You all packed up? Russ, Jund, and Snake went after him. They might find him, but I doubt it. Even without an eye, he still has his ways." Right on cue, Russ walks out, the two others trailing behind him.

"We lost him. He got into a car and they drove away." He takes Red from Cry. "You okay?" She nods against his chest.

"I'm fine."

"Thank you all. I guess this is goodb-" Russ cuts him off by holding up his hand.

"Shut up. This isn't goodbye. We'll come visit sometimes, and you too. None of us will let this be goodbye." Everyone exchanges hugs and brofists.

"Alright... see you later, I guess."

"See you later."
