“Are you mad at me because of the stars?” I slam my hands down on his desk, creating a loud bang. I’m in Mr. Darn’s classroom, my favorite class of the day. A few people look up, but when they see who I am, they look away, turning a blind eye to my anger. Pewdie… Felix, I mean, jumps with shock, focus finally away from his phone.

“What the hell are you even talking about?” Felix snaps, and my hands begin tapping against my side. He doesn’t remember… Nate was wrong. He nearly grabs my hand after a moment, looking annoyed at my constant tapping, even though he himself is tapping his foot. As if it’s casual to just grab your enemy’s hand.  Thank god I have a mask, because my face is red.

“The stars. Are you mad at me because of them? Have you forgotten after all this time?” I pull my fingers away, feeling like I’ve been electrocuted. Hating myself for feeling this way.

“Cry, why would I be mad about that? And yes, I remember. I’m not going to be mad at you because you can’t see them like I do. That’s about the worst reason I’ve ever head to be mad at someone.” He lets out a huge sigh, blowing some of his messy blonde hair out of his face, which shows off his blue eyes. “Our relationship is just… very complicated.”

“Tell me about it. Here, get up, before Mr. Dick comes in and gets mad.” He gets up so I can squeeze past into my seat by the window. When my back is turned, grabs my arm urgently, right where the bruises from Ken are. I cry out, pulling my arm away. He didn’t grab me gently. Felix sighs again.

“You saw that Ken guy we talked about again?” Now he’s tapping away against the desk. This time I place my hand over his, but he tugs away, looking frustrated. I can feel his anger and disappointment, and yet again, I don’t know why. “Pull up your sleeve.”

“What are you, my mother? No,” I say, turning away and pull out my in shambles notebook and a small pencil. It’s all that I could scrounge up around the library with the help of Nate and our technical mom, Miss Taica, who makes us call her Amy. She’s young, around twenty-six, and is the sole owner of the library we stay at, West library. She takes care of us, and in return, I keep the bad people away from her business.

“Pull. Up. Your. Sleeve.” Felix demands, and I shake my head, stubbornly sticking out my lip. “Fine, we’re going to do this the hard way.” He grabs my wrist with surprising force, and as much as I want to smack him upside the floor, maybe he’ll leave me be if I just let him look.

“Fine, jeez, here you go.” I pull up the sleeve to my green hoodie, showing off the blackish yellow bruises that are in the shapes of handprints. “Are you happy now that you’ve stuck your head even farther us the ass of my business?”

“Not by a long shot. What is he doing to you?” Pewdie seems to stare into my eyes through the mask, just like how my brother does sometimes, and I squirm. He’s making me uncomfortable. Me, the monster, is uncomfortable.

“He’s doing… lots of things?” I say questionably, and he glares at me, obviously trying to see if I’m joking. “It varies, actually, but he didn’t do anything last night. My brother made sure of that.”
