Jamie

My lip quivered as I twitched in my sleep, the cold air hitting my sweaty face. I opened my eyes, only a sliver before closing them. My mind could make up the darkness that showed through the curtains, slipping through reality and dream. I felt my body twitch as I held Tessa in my arms, gripping her tighter as I felt my fingers go numb, her slipping away each second. She murmured in her sleep, breathing out slowly as my heart rate slowed down. I slipped back into the dream that was slowly slipping away, softly snoring away as Tessa clutched me.

She smiled at me, her grey eyes shining bright as the light hit her. I tilted her chin up with my fingers, her eyes locking with mine. My lips closed the gap between us, lifting her up as her arms wrapped around my neck. I pulled her up, wrapping my arms around her waist as I lifted her. She squealed as her feet left the ground, pressing small kisses around my neck. "Daddy," she whispered into my ear, sending chills down my spine. I chuckled, placing her body back onto the ground before removing my arms from her body. She kept her arms around my neck, pulling me down to her height. "Can we stay like this forever?" I could feel a feeling in my stomach, something that I've never felt in my life. She said the same three words that haunted me through the night, "I love you."

I gulped, my hand running across her skin, brushing her brown hair away from her face. My eyes drawn to her dark, brown hair and pale skin, something that caught my eye the second I met her. She chuckled, her cheeks blushing as I traced her skin with the tips of my fingers. My shoulders began shaking, a little chuckle coming from my mouth. "I love you, baby girl," part of me said without my metacognition working. What did I do? She looked at me, her eyes showing that look before she kissed me once more. My subconscious kicked in, telling me to kiss her back, yelling before I did exactly what it told me to. She backed away, looking into my eyes as she blushed. I always liked it when her cheeks would brighten with color, taking her pale complexion away. My eyes fixated on her, only her before I heard the elevator doors opened with a loud ding. I looked into that direction, seeing policemen flood into the apartment. Tessa gasped loudly as the policemen pointed their guns at me, shouting for me to get away from her.

"James Dornan, get away from the girl," they ordered me to. Tessa latched onto me, fighting the others who pulled her away from me. "Hands up," they shoved me against the staircase, my head hitting the rim. I groaned as they handcuffed me, feeling the cut on my head was getting worse. "James Dornan, you are under arrest for the rape of Theresa Grey." They pushed me towards the elevator just in time as Tyler walked in, my security force pushing through. I could see Tessa from the back of my eye as we entered the elevator, seeing her getting comforted by Tyler. They held me down by my shoulders, preventing me from fleeing as we descended. I stayed silent, not wanting anything I say to affect my case. F*ck, I swore in my mind.

I jolted awake, my heartbeat going as fast as it could. My mind went back to the person who was against me, Tessa. She clutched my body tighter as I held her, my hand slowly running through her hair. I ran my fingertips down her bare back, my memory filling in the gaps of my clueless self. My eyes closed again, slowly breathing in as I tried to calm down. "Everything is going to be okay," I repeated to myself. My eyes closed tighter, seeing only darkness as I felt myself drift off. "Everything is going to be okay."

When I woke up, Tessa was still right beside me, softly snoring away. I could feel her clutch tighter against me as I tried to move, making me sigh, resting my head on the pillow. She mumbled my name over and over, her hand moving across my chest. My heart rate went up as I rethought about my dream, or what was left of it as my brain tried to wipe it from my memory. It felt real, I thought. "How could it be real?" My hand went to the ends of Tessa's dark hair, brushing it along her back. I was drawn to her beauty, especially as she lay in my arms with her head against my chest.

My finger went down to brush her hair away from her face before she opened her eyes. I watched as she yawned, her hand going up to wipe her eyes. She always woke up with watery eyes, something that I learned when she started having night terrors. I coughed, yawning with her as she slumped her body against me. "Morning, baby girl," I looked down at her. She smiled, inhaling sharply before closing her eyes. I kissed her forehead, pressing my lips onto her skin. She warmly sighed, yawning again as she mumbled my name. I felt her cold fingertips trace across my chest, it sending sparks up my body as she lay her hand flat against my neck. My hand went up to move it before she kissed me, her lips making me completely numb.

"Lose control of yourself, Daddy," she reminded me as her hand moved mine to her waist. I called myself, laying flat against the pillow as she felt skin. She repeated something to herself, barely audible in a soft mutter before laying against my chest. "He's alive," I heard before she backed away from me. She grabbed the shirt that was laying on the wooden floor, draping it over herself. I watched as she searched around the room for her cotton panties, finding it only inches away from my bed before sliding them up her legs. She quickly walked out of the room, making me throw the sheets off of my body and follow her. I could see her rush out into the main room, her hand pulling her up to each step on the staircase. My body stood there, looking at her as she bounced her way up to the top of the stairs. Why would she think that I wasn't alive? I walked to the kitchen, watching as the cloudy sky lurked around the city of Seattle. My hands gripped the counter, the dream overwhelming me.

She came back down in her school clothes; a button-up shirt and pants. As she walked closer to me, I could see who's shirt she was wearing. Mine. She smiled, inhaling sharply before saying my name. Jamie. I loved the way my name rolled off her tongue, smoothly, different from how she says daddy. My hand gripped her arms, pulling her closer to me before kissing her. I pressed my lips onto her, the same bubbling feeling appearing in my stomach like the dream. My mind remembered what happened in that fantasy, the hairs on the back of my neck sticking up as the elevator doors opened. Is the dream coming true?
