Couple of time skips because a year needs to pass for the Sabriel storyline to continue.

~3 months since Gabe sold his soul~

"Cas."

Silence.

"Cas."

Still silence.

"Caaaaassssssssssss."

"Oh my god Dean what do you want?"

"I'm hungry."

"...You're an angel, you don't get hungry."

Cas, Dean and Gabe were on another hunt, because yep that's all they do. They'd been doing pretty well with the help of Dean, since he finally decided to actually help them. Something to do with not wanting his human getting killed.

"Yeah but..."

"I am not buying you another pie."

"But pie."

"No."

"Piiiiiiiiiiiiieeeeeee."

"You guys argue like a married couple," Gabe said. They just turned to glare at him from the front of the Impala. "And I'm like your kid you seem to hate but secretly love."

"Yeah no," Dean said. "No love here."

"Aww come on Deano, you know you love me."

"Nope, that's Sammy's job."

Silence. Again. Dean was the only one who ever brought up Sam, knowing that if he could get Gabe to forgive Sam then nothing bad would happen to Sam. But Gabe always just went silent.

They arrived at a motel and Gabe left silently. Cas watched sadly, knowing Gabe would be going to get drunk again, maybe hook up with some random girl. He'd been doing that more often lately, drowning himself in misery.

"Jeez, him and Sam," Dean said. "They should get over it and make out already."

"I thought you didn't want Sam to get together with a human," Cas said.

"I don't, but at least then they wouldn't both be moping."

"How do you know Sam's moping?" Cas asked, and Dean sighed.

"I don't. I mean, if he's the same he would be. But if what Jo said is true then...well fuck."

Cas sat down on one of the beds, looking away from Dean so Dean could let his wings out. This had become a habit of theirs whenever Gabe wasn't around. Dean was pretty much fine with Cas seeing his wings now, so long as he wasn't looking when he got them out.

Cas looked up after he heard the sound of Dean's wings moving, glancing at the black feathers. They looked messy, as if Dean didn't really take care of them.

"Dean do you ever take care of your wings?" Cas asked. "Like groom them or something?"

"Not really," Dean said, almost hesitantly. "That's kinda a thing we get other people to do. Like family...or people who we significantly care about. If I tried I'd miss most of it."

"So did Sam normally do it then?"

"Yeah...but he's not around..."

"You really should at least try."

"You can't just do half of it, it doesn't work like that."

"Well then what?"

(Bet you all know where this is headed ;P)
