"Dean what is it? What's wrong? Why didn't that hurt you?"

"Cas I'm..."

"What?"

"Human. I'm human."

Cas was silent, looking at Dean with wide eyes. "How?"

"I...I don't know."

Sam ran into the room suddenly, looking at Dean with the same expression Cas had. "Dean, how..."

"I don't know."

"There is no way that should've taken your grace away. It's not possible."

"Maybe it didn't," Dean said, looking over at Cas. "Cas...I bonded myself to you."

"I figured."

"Do you remember what Sam and Gabe said about it? Because I'm an angel and you're human, either you get my immortality or..."

"You get my mortality," Cas said quietly. "But that shouldn't have taken away your grace right?"

"It's my grace that makes me immortal," Dean said. "So yeah, that's exactly what it would do."

"So then..."

"I'm human unless we can find a way to make this like Sam and Gabe's bond."

"Speaking of," Cas said, turning to Sam. "Has Gabriel woken up?"

Sam shook his head. "I'll go check on him." He walked out of the room, and we followed him.

Sam walked into the room to see Gabe sitting up on the bed.

"Gabe," Sam said, running over and pulling Gabe into a hug. Which Gabriel returned half heartedly.

"Hey Sammy," Gabe said. Sam pulled away with tears shining in his eyes to see Gabe looking at him without expression.

"How are you feeling?" Sam asked.

"Fine."

"Are you sure?"

"Yeah."

Sam narrowed his eyes at Gabe. He reached out to Gabe's mind only to find something very wrong. Sure Gabriel's mind was there...but the life behind it was gone. The soul.

"No..." Sam whispered. "No that can't be..."

"What?" Gabe asked.

"Gabriel...you're..."

"Oh spit it out would you?"

Sam flinched. "You're soulless."

Gabe looked at him for a moment before shrugging. "I feel fine."

"That's because you can't feel."

"That's not that bad is it?"

Sam just gaped. "Gabe...come on, don't you even care?"

"Honestly, not really," Gabe said, shrugging.

Sam looked at him for another moment before running out of the room. Dean and Cas were waiting in the main room of the bunker, and looked at Sam expectantly.

Sam just stood there for a moment, wide frantic eyes and messed up hair.

"Sam?" Dean said cautiously.

"He's...he's..."

"What?" Cas said. "What is he?"

"He's soulless. His soul. It's...not there. It must still be in the cage."

Dean groaned and Cas looked at Sam shocked before getting angry.

"You had one job Sam," Cas said. "One job. You couldn't get him out in one piece?"
