~8 months since Gabe sold his soul~ (woah big time skip)...actually maybe not

~6 months since Gabe sold his soul~ (that's better)

Dean looked over at the black haired human leaning over the books. When he had first gotten stuck here by Sammy he had hated Cas, Gabe too. Although even he had to admit that Cas was hot. Like come on, the hair and eyes alone.

Over a bit of time, he had come to tolerate both of them. Actually that was still how his relationship with Gabriel was. He didn't particularly like the guy, after all it was his fault Sam was gone.

Cas however was a different story. The more him and Dean talked, the more Dean liked him. He temporarily forgot Cas was human and let himself possibly even develop feelings for him. Just a small spark, but nevertheless it was there.

And Dean being Dean, just had to tease Cas with his wing that first time. Which led to Cas then being curious when Dean asked him to groom his wings.

Dean should've seen that coming. It was his fault in the first place. But noooo he just had to ignore what he was doing and how he was feeling.

Now that was three months ago. And Cas just wouldn't stop with the awkwardness. It was like he was purposely rubbing it in Dean's face that he regretted it, that he wish he had done nothing or even just backed out when Dean gave him the chance. But again, nope they were just stupid like that.

Dean continued watching Cas as Cas glanced over at him and quickly looked back at the book. Dean rolled his eyes and spun around on the spinny chair, thinking about his situation.

He was an angel. And Cas was a human. He was developing feelings for said human. Said human did not reciprocate.

Dean sighed as he span the chair. Sammy would probably help out here. He actually understood feelings despite his actions. Well at least he understood Dean's feelings.

Six months since they last heard from Sam. Six months until they'd see him again.

Because Dean had no doubt that Sam would pull Gabe from hell. Dean had known from the moment Sam bonded him to Cas.

Sam healed quicker from either Cas or Gabe because of a bond, but not one formed yet. But since Cas bonded to Dean, he was out of the picture. And since Gabe was going to hell, that was the perfect opportunity.

Gabe was just walking through the streets without any direction. That pretty much explained his life at the moment. He was going to die within six months, and there was no way to stop it. He'd be in hell for the rest of eternity. Probably being tortured or something.

"Dammit Sammy why didn't you save Cas?" Gabe muttered. "You could've prevented this. You could've saved my life."

"No Gabe. This isn't my fault."

Gabe looked up as he heard the voice, looking around wildly. But no one was there. He'd definitely heard Sam's voice though.

"Sam? Oh my god I'm so sorry."

"Are you? Are you really?"

Gabe looked around confused. It was Sam...but he sounded different. Not like the little awkward angel Gabe knew.

"Sam...please."

"No."

Gabe looked out into the night and didn't say anything else, getting nothing from Sam in return. He closed his eyes, his breathing shaky. "Sam it's not your fault," he whispered.

~7 months since Gabe sold his soul~

Dean couldn't. He just couldn't. Cas was being too awkward, it was impossible for him to think straight.
