(MARSHALL'S POV)

"What?!" I angrily blurted, eyebrows furrowed, eyes widened, mouth slightly opened, hoping I misheard what my mom just said.

"Marshall, you're going to marry Ashley," she said as casually as she could, knowing I was already pissed.

"What the hell mom?! No! I have a girlfriend!"

"Girlfriend?" She scoffed, her anger now obvious.

"Yeah, Marceline. And I love her, that has nothing to do with you, nor is there anything you can do about it."

"But honey, think about it! Ashley is better!"

What the ■■ck?

"Better? I don't even know her!" Ashley frowned but kept silent.

"Son, we know for a fact that besides being the vampire king, you're the heir to the Nightosphere. So what if that Marceline girl is the vampire queen? I know her father, Hunson Abadeer, since I have been to the other side of the Nightosphere. And I know for sure that just like me, he doesn't need another vampire ruling his empire of demons!" She explained as her voice began to rise.

I was really frustrated. I turned my back on her, avoiding her eyes as I tried to think of a way out of this situation while we're still here and nothing else had happened. Why in the deepest circle of hell would she do this?

"Son, this is for your own good," she said sternly. Ashley was still silent.

This is nowhere near good.

"This? For my own good?! I'm not marrying someone I don't know! Actually I'm not marrying anyone else, Marceline's the only one I love and there's nothing you can do about it."

"If not for your own good then for the good of the Nightosphere. Ashley would make a perfect queen!"

"A perfect queen for someone else."

"She's a wizard-demon."

"Haven't you even considered that Marceline and I are both vampire-demons?"

"But what can vampires do?"

I smacked my forehead with my palm in frustration, and turned back then I punched the wall at the left side of the door, leaving a crack. Ashley was silent the whole time.

"This is why I don't live under your roof," I angrily said as I pointed a finger at her, but I had to control my anger. So I left them both, flew into the house to get Marceline. I noticed that she was just behind the door. She must've heard everything.

Without saying a word, I grabbed her and we left the house. As we flew out, mom and Ashley were looking coldly at Marcy, and Marcy at Ashley.

(MARCELINE'S POV)

Marshall took me to his house since we were already in Aaa. He kept silent throughout the whole time on our way there but his anger was evident as he held my wrist tight as he grabbed me, but the pain was totally tolerable. He wouldn't do anything to hurt me. I also decided not to say a word until we were in his house.

We arrived and he closed the door, barely slamming it. He then sat on the couch, his elbows weighed on his knees, looking down the floor, ire on his face.

"Marshall, what was that back there?" I asked him as I sat beside him. I tried not to show my anger towards was worried about him, and us.

He looked at me and held my face.

"Marcy, I am never leaving you. Be it us against the world," he said and hugged me. I hugged back and rubbed his back.

"And I will never leave," I promised.

He pulled away and I could still see the anger and melancholy in his face. Nobody ever affects him this way, except for me, and now, as I've witnessed, his mom. It was barely obvious that behind his anger towards his mother, he still cared for her, and she could hurt him with her words, something no one can do.

"Mom wants me to marry someone else," he started to explain. That kinda hurt a little, but that wasn't enough to make me mope over it. I'm still positive that we'll get through this. Hell, like I'm going to give you up.

"Her name is Ashley. She's a wizard-demon. She kinda resembles Ash, maybe his 'Aaa version.' I've never met this girl before, never heard of her. But mom wants her for the good of the family business," he continued as he brushed his hair back with his hand. He tried to keep calm, heavy breaths, and always kept his gaze on the floor. "She's crazy. "

Frankly enough, I agree; Mrs. Lee is crazy.

At this moment, Marshall was so down. I hate seeing Marshall like this. I really hate it.

I stared at him, and a tear rolled down his face. That was unusual, and it broke me inside. He started sniffling. Marshall...

My worries deepened. I wasn't able to say a word, I caressed the back of his head with my hand and his nape with my other hand, and gently laid his head on my chest, my chin on top of his head. "Marshall.."

He put my body into a tight embrace.

"For once. Why c-can't she..?"

I rubbed his back. He wasn't crying that hard, only a tear or two rolled down his cheeks.

"Why can't she actually act like my mother?"

Just like dad and me. I felt him, I know how he feels. I lifted his face so his eyes met mine. With my fingers, I wiped the tears from his face. I gave him a kiss on his forehead.

"I'll be with you through it all, I promise."

Gladly, that put a smile on his face. He sat up straight and hugged me, throwing his lips onto mine. "Thank you Marcy," he said in between breaths, "I love you."

"I love you more Marshall."

"I love you most. Let's stay strong."
