(MARSHALL'S POV)
I stared at the space of red carpet between my feet, sitting on the couch, my hands weighed against my knees. It's my wedding day, and I am very unhappy. I'm marrying the wrong person. I'm so sorry Marcy, I have to do this for us.
"Marshall," a voice called and I bobbed my head up to see that it was Flame Princess with Flame Prince. They were both wearing formal outfits. Everyone knows about the wedding, but only my friends know what it was about.
"You okay man?" Flame Prince asked as he walked towards me. "No," I answered casually. "I'm sure Marcy will understand," Flame Princess attempted to comfort me.
"I hope so. I went this far so we could be together again." I replied. "I'm sure she will. After all, this is for the good of everyone," Flame Princess said with an assuring smile.
"Marshall!" Fionna yelled as she ran to the room with little Cake in her backpack. "Everything's ready. And here's your tux," she said as she handed the grey tux to me. "Thanks," I said as I wore it over my dress shirt.
"I hope this works. It's now or never," Fionna said with a small laugh. "Let's make it work. My life lies in... this! We have to make this work. For Marcy."
"Don't worry Marshall," Flame Prince said with a smile. "Good luck baby!" Cake greeted.
"Marshall, what are you still doing? The reception will start soon!" Mom blurted out of nowhere. We all turned as she peeked into the room, wearing a maroon sheath dress with her hair up. "Yeah, yeah, I'm done," I murmured. I stood up and glanced to Fionna, Phoebe and FP over my shoulder before I walked towards Mom.
"Oh, my not-so-little boy is going to be married!" She uttered excitedly as she squished my cheeks. "Mooom," I grumbled, not daring to look at my friends who are probably muffling their laughter. Without saying another word, I left the room.
The sun was down. The wedding is to be held in a small space in the middle of the woods by the sea, where Marcy and I played hide and seek that night we went on a date. They say it's supposed to be a romatic setting.
The decorations maintained the place's natural aura. There were flowers everywhere, decorative lights and such. I hate looking at it, for the woman who will be walking down that aisle isn't the woman I love.
"Mom," I turned to look at her. "I want you to open the portal while the wedding is going on," I demanded. "No, I'll open it once the ceremony ends," she said sternly.
"Mom, please. I've done everything you want. Just give me this one last thing," I pleaded, knocking at her oh so kind heart. "Marshall, I'm not dumb. You think you could run away from your own wedding?"
"I just want you to show me that you're not tricking me. I want you to prove to me that you'll stick to your word," I explained.
"I won't tell you unless you behave," she replied. "Don't ever open the portal again if I ever misbehave," I countered. "Then I suppose it's fine."
She took a small bottle from her purse and clutched on it as she turned around and began walking away. That must be it. I took my phone out and called Fionna.
"I need you to do something."

The organs started playing. I stood there, tensed up, hoping we do not fail, not today. Ashley walked down the aisle in her wedding gown. Demons and wizards attended the wedding, aside from Fionna, Flame Prince and Flame Princess. Mom's demon friend was officiating the wedding.
I looked at Fionna and she gave me a smile that says everything will be okay. I looked everywhere but at Ashley. Then I realized that Ashley was already by my side. Everyone was looking at me.
"Marshall," Ashley whispered, giving me a what the heck look. I turned around and faced the officiate.
"Welcome, family and friends. Today we are here to witness and celebrate the marriage of Ashley and Marshall. We are not here to start a relationship. We are here, however, to recognize a bond that already exists..." The officiate started.
My eyes started to wander around. I need to keep my cool.
Damn Marceline. I miss you so much. I couldn't help but imagine that this was our wedding. I can't help but imagine that you were that woman, dressed in a beautiful wedding gown, standing by my side. I looked at Ashley, and she was about to sit down. Everybody was, so I also did.
Marcy would probably go for a dark colored gown, unlike the usual white. Maybe she'll even be wearing sneakers under the dress. The thought of her makes me miss her even more.
And the thought of Marcy being my wife...
I couldn't help but smile while the officiate was talking about Ashley and me. Ashley looked at me and smiled. I looked at her and said, "What?" As I looked away and then looked down.
Marcy, I miss you so much. Just hold on a little longer, okay?
At the corner of my eye, Fionna, who was seated at the left side, snuck out.

(FLAME PRINCESS' POV)
Fionna: How much time do we have?
Fionna texted. Marshall told us about the bottle which might have something to do with the portal. Fionna and Cake snuck out to look for Helena's book, the one Marshall told us about. It contains the 'instructions'. Since Helena is not home, this is our chance to sneak into her house. I proceeded to typing.
Me: Not much.. pls hurry.
C'mon Fionna, Cake, they're getting to the 'I do' part! Marshall can't say yes.
Fionna: Maloso vobiscum et cum spiritum. That's the chant, it's the same as the one used to open the portal to the Nightosphere. Apperently you'll need to throw the bottle to break it and then chant to reverse the spell.
Me: Got it.
Fionna: We're on our way back.
(MARSHALL'S POV)
"Marshall, do you take Ashley to be your lawfully wedded wife, to have and to hold, for better or for worse..."
Oh glob I can't stand hearing this. Where the hell is Fionna? I need to stall. I can't say yes to this.
"...until death do you part?"
F■ck.
"Uh," I mumbled, racking my brain for any ideas to delay this, "Actually, I uh, need to go to the bathroom," I continued. Nice.
Everyone looked confused, whispering to each other. Phoebe and Flame Prince muffled their laughter.
"Marshall, what are you doing?!" Ashley whispered angrily. "We're in the middle of the wedding, can't it wait?"
"Sorry, I really need to go. I'll be quick, I promise," I blabbered and walked slowly to the woods. As I thought I was out of sight, I hid behind a tree. Fionna please be here already. I turned invisible and peeked.
It didn't take long and Fionna and Cake were back. I turned visible and leaned my back towards the tree, preparing myself to go back to the ceremony. As I was about to walk out of the woods, I heard a series of noises and broken glass before I heard Fionna chant, "Maloso vobiscum et cum spiritum!"
"Marshall!" I heard Phoebe and Flame Prince yell. I arrived to the place in flames, a large Cake, Fionna swinging her sword around to scare off anyone who dared come near, and the portal open.
I quickly flew to them. "How did you-"
"I had to burn your mom's hand. Now hurry!" Flame Prince briefly explained as he pushed me to the portal. "Thanks so much for helping me hijack my wedding guys," I said.
I heard Ashley and mom yelling my name, but I didn't bother to look back. I hopped into the portal and Fionna, Cake, Phoebe and Flame Prince followed. Everything went white like there was an explosion.
