(MARSHALL'S POV)
"Oh crap, my journal!" Marceline suddenly blurted from the bathroom. I sat up and flew towards the door. Marceline opened it and left it gaped for me to enter. She just had a night shower. She was facing the sink and mirror, the IV stand right next to her. She was already wearing a pair of pajamas, but her upper body was still bare. She had her arms crossed and touching the opposite shoulders, covering her chest. My plain grey T-shirt was hung on the steel towel rack which was adjacent to the mirror. I knew she would wear my shirt.
"What are you talking about?" I asked as I floated behind her and pulled the shirt from the rack. "This is embarrassing, can't even wear clothes myself," she murmured. "It's okay," I responded as I removed the bag of fluid from its hook and slid it through the bottom hole and into the arm hole. Marcy slid her hand through the arm hole and pulled the shirt down as I returned the bag to its stand and helped her. "I stupidly forgot to take my journal with me," she continued her earlier rant as she finally pulled the shirt down to cover her stomach.
"Marcy, c'mon. You're still unwell," I pointed out. I do understand that her journal means the world to her, and I was already expecting what she was going to say next. "But Marshall, I can't just leave it there! It's super important!" She complained. "Where did you put it? Surely you've hidden it." I know you. She turned around and grabbed the stand as she started floating out of the bathroom. I wheeled the stand behind her. "I hid it under the couch," she answered. "Well, at least it's in somewhere safe."
Marcy sighed as she slumped on the bed. I placed the stand on the left side of the bed. Schwabl was fast asleep. I almost mistaken him for a rug ar a pile of clothes. I looked back to Marcy who was fiddling her fingers, looking down at them. "Hey, don't worry. I promise it'll be okay. We'll bring it back," I comforted her, floating over towards her to give her shoulders a squeeze. She showed a weak smile. Every one had left and went back home. Hunson trusted me to watch Marceline.
"I'm very busy right now, but I'll be taking a break from work soon, for Marcy. I'll just have to make arrangements and fix stuff before I can do so. Now, should I trust you to watch my daughter?"
"You're still doubting me? Sir, if the accident hadn't taken place, I would have been your son-in-law."
"Oh, but you're not," Hunson smiled slyly. He was testing me, playing with me. But it was not like he was happy that the accident happened and Marcy and I didn't get married. This is plainly just Hunson being Hunson.
"Well, you did give me your blessing, remember? I will be, soon," I countered with a smirk. Defeated it seemed, he chuckled, shaking his head. He reached for my hand and I immediately grabbed and shook it, thinking that was what he meant to do. He pulled me towards him, bumped our chests and repeatedly patted my back. "Take care of my Marcy while I'm gone," he ordered as he pulled away and fixed his suit.
I still didn't tell him about Ash though. But I did tell him that there was something I needed to tell him, but now's not the time. I'd crap my pants if Hunson gets to kill Ash before I do.
"Get some rest so you'll be able to recover faster. Then, we can go back home," I smiled. Just the thought about fixing everything and going back to our old lives made me happy. Marcy smiled at me, laying down the bed. I pulled the comforter to her shoulders. "Why do I have to stay here for this long anyway?" She complained. For all I know, she hated being in hospitals, and she still does. "You're leaving the day after tomorrow. And that's because Bonnie's trying to eradicate the poison you've consumed. She said you needed at least six of these," I handled the IV bag, "and this is only your second."
She pouted. A smirk crept up my lips. She was so adorable. I leaned down to kiss her forehead. "Good night, my queen."
"Good night Marshall."
