(MARSHALL'S POV)
"Marshall, what are you doing?!" Ashley exclaimed annoyingly as she saw me cutting my wrist with a kitchen knife.
"I'm cutting. Now please let me cut in peace," I replied nonchalantly. "And would you stop sneaking into my house? It's getting annoying." I spoke without looking at her. After a few seconds, I saw a pale blue hand grab the handle of the knife and yank it, throwing it across the room.
"What the hell-"
"You shouldn't be cutting!" She reprimanded.
"I don't die from cutting, unless the material used is an anti-vampire crap. Does that look like a vampire-killing knife to you? It's a kitchen knife." I said as I pointed at the knife that was thrown.
"Oh," was all that she was able to say. "How do you vampires die then?" I sighed in frustration at her ignorance to such an obvious matter as I watched my cuts heal. "Stakes, duh." I scoffed. But then I was stopped by my sudden realization that she might use the knowledge against Marcy, if she comes back.
"What about stakes?"
Ugh, dumb butt. "Will you get out of here?" I asked, now making her annoyance obvious. "Why do you always do this, Marshall?!" She cried. "Why can't you try and learn to love me? I'd do everything for you!"
"Just get the hell out of here and leave me alone, okay?!" I was now yelling as I stood up and pointed abruptly to the door. "All you did only brought me pain, and separated me from the only girl I love! And because of you, I can't see her anymore!"
All those words and all she noticed was the picture that was barely visible from under my couch. She gingerly bent and took the picture. It was my picture as a kid, I lost that years ago. Tears started to flood her eyes.
"Marshall..."
"What?!"
"Marshall, do you really not remember me?" She asked, now crying.
"What do you mean?" I was very confused.
"This is why. This is why I've fallen in love with you very easily. You were always that person. We were friends! Don't you remember, Marshall?!" This has gone very dramatic. "I loved you, but I never saw you again after the war. My feelings may have gone, but now that you're here, they're also back. You were my first love, Marshall."
I wasn't able to say a word. I didn't remember her. I had many demon friends back then, and I can't remember any of them.
"Marshall, please..."
"No, I don't remember you. And you think this would be one of those cheesy love stories? No. You're pathetic, Ashley. You can't even hold a candle to Marcy."
She just sobbed.
"Look, I don't care about being your first love. It wasn't love, Ashley. You were just infatuated or whatever. If that was love, it never should have left. But I'm glad it did, because Marcy is the only one I love. Now please, stay out of my life. Stop wasting your time."
She turned angry at my statement. "Why?!"
"I don't want to waste my time and discuss this over and over again. Please, get out!" The last two words turned into a yell. She didn't budge, so I forcefully pushed her out the house and locked the door behind me.
Marcy, I hope you're doing okay. I'm not.
I suddenly had the urge to talk to my mom. It's been almost a year, and I don't want to spend another year without her.
I hurriedly opened a portal to the Nightosphere. I flew to mom's house and slammed the doors open. There she was, sitting on the couch with Ashley who was crying. Probably already told her about the discovery about us being long lost friends. They both looked at me.
"Open the portal, now!" I demanded harshly. "On one condition," Mom replied with an eyebrow raised, "You and Ashley should get married," she stated calmly as if it wasn't a big deal.
"No."
"Then I'm not opening it."
"Wait."
"What?"
"Is there no other condition?"
She thought for a moment, and then, "No."
"Why should you do this, Mom? This is very absurd." I said with a mixture of anger and sadness.
"I'm doing this for you, Marshall."
"You're doing this for you."
My answer must have caught her off guard, it was seen in her eyes. But she remained cool and calm.
"If you're going to go on with this, then there is nothing we should be talking about. Go home," she stated calmly. She was calm but I was already losing my mind.
"Why would you do this to your own son?!" I yelled, not able to contain my anger.
She got up and started to walk out. I didn't hold back and abruptly grabbed her right arm and yanked her back. As soon as I let go, she slapped me across my face.
"Listen!" I yelled.
"Why should I when all you say is nonsense?!" She yelled back. I was now very furious, I could punch her if she wasn't my mother. Memories came flashing back.
"Why?! Look at yourself! Was it sensible that you left me during the war?!"
"What are you talking about?!"
I let out a sarcastic laugh as. "Well of course, you wouldn't remember! You wouldn't remember what I've been through because you weren't there! You left me when I was barely able to reach the top of the kitchen table, much less survive a damn war!"
"Mar-"
"And you know what, all you've ever taught me was how to live without you. And then you come back, take everything from me and force me to follow you as if you've been a good mother!"
"Enough!" She yelled as she stormed out of the foyer, leaving me and Ashley behind. "F■ck this!" I yelled and went outside. I went through the portal and I was back in my house.
I punched the walls and left holes. I broke almost every furniture in the house to let off steam.
"Marshall!" I heard a girl call from outside. It was Fionna. "Marshall, open up!" She said as she forcefully banged on the door. I opened up and she looked at me worriedly.
"Marshall, are you okay?" She asked, concerned. "Yeah, just had another fight with mom."
She hugged me and cried. "Are we not going to see them?"
"I will find a way, Fi. I miss them too," I assured as I rubbed her back. "Please Marshall," she begged, hugging tighter. "I promise."
"Thank you, Marshall."

I laid in bed, as the cool breeze from the window brushed against my skin. Everything was dark, except for the moonlight that gloomily illuminated the room.
I've been thinking about what mom said. I stood up and made a portal back to the Nightosphere. I arrived to see mom sipping on a cup of tea in the foyer.
"You're back," she stated with a brow raised, probably still angry from the fight.
"I've been thinking about it," I mustered up all the courage to continue. "Open the portal. I'll marry Ashley."
