(MARCELINE'S POV)

I left Marshall's at about 8 am. I brought his umbrella with me. I decided to go straight home to get more sleep. Crap. Why does Marshall's mom have to be so... ugh, whatever! Whatever. It's not like we're staying at his mom's when we get married. Yes, Mrs. Lee, I'm marrying your son. There's nothing you, or Ashley, or your entire empire of demons can do about that.

And I don't care if we have to throw forks and knives at each other during family gatherings and crap. Glob, it's not like Marshall's 12 years old. You can't treat him like a child forever.

"Wow, you grumble a lot," a voice called from my back. I turned around to see that it was Flame Princess.

"Oh, hey. Did I say those things out loud?" Wow Marcy. Now someone's found out about your habit.

"Yeah. What's up? Everything okay?"

"Y-yeah, everything's fine, everything's good."

"Duh, it's so obvious."

Yeah Marcy, I'm fine is a very common lie, too mainstream, especially after she's heard everything. Just spit it out.

I let out a sigh. "Everything. Everything's not okay."

We walked towards the lake where Marshall and I hang out sometimes.

"Mind talking about it?"

I was on the verge of tears. There was that stupid lump on my throat. Of course, no matter how I deny it, it hurts. And Flames had to be inquisitive right now. She can do it some other time, but it had to be now. But I'm not saying she's annoying though.

"Marcy, you don't have to keep it all to yourself, you know. You can always talk to a friend."

I sat on the grass and I positioned my umbrella so I was completely covered by its shadow. Flames sat on a rock. Of course I was not going to cry in front of her. I calmed myself and inhaled deeply before talking.

"It's about his mom. She wants Marshall to marry another girl," I finally uttered after a moment of silence.

"Wow, that's awful," she said with a slight hint of concern in her voice, "Why would she do that?"

I sighed once more to keep the tears from falling. "I don't know what she wants exactly. I don't know if it's really for the family business, or because she just wants that girl for Marshall and not me."

She frowned. If she isn't angry - which would be excessively angry, no in-betweens - she is this sweet friend. "And how are you feeling? About this?"

"Not so good," I looked down and tucked my hair behind my ear.

"How about Marshall?"

"He's not happy about it. I-I know, I don't have to worry about him falling for another girl, I know he'll never do that because I know that he loves me. But his mother, there's just this weird aura around her. She seemed nice, but when she looked straight to my eyes, she felt so powerful, so influential, like she gets everything she wants by any means. I can feel it, it's a vampire thing, almost like reading someone's mind. I can somehow comprehend their personality."

"So what are guys gonna do?"

"I don't know. But one thing's for sure - we're not breaking up over this."

"Right. Just stay strong you guys," she said with a smile. But that smile quickly faded as she looked down.

"Are you okay?" I asked her.

"Can I share my problems too?"

"Well of course," I said casually but truthfully.

"I just can't trust PB with this, so I had no one to talk to." I just nodded.
