(MARCELINE'S POV)

"Marcy? Guys, she's waking up," a boy whispered as I slowly opened my heavy eyes. My vision hasn't adjusted, but I could see blurred figures approaching me.

I blinked a few times until everything was clear. All these unfamiliar faces looking down at me with mixed emotions. "Marceline?" Called a pink-haired girl in white lab gown. I'm guessing she was the doctor. I looked around the unfamiliar place, yet strangely, it was somehow... familiar. "Where... where am I?" My voice was still hoarse. "Don't worry, you're safe here. We're your friends," she assured. Probably knowing about my memory loss, she began to introduce the people gathered around my bed.

"This is Finn, BMO, Jake and Fionna," she pointed at the people to her left and proceeded to her right, "Cake, Lady, Gumball, Flame Prince and Phoebe," she identified as she pointed at each respectively, some of them saying hi's and hello's as the bubblegum introduced them, "and I'm Bonnibel Bubblegum," she stated last.

"Marcy, how are you?"

"Where have you been this whole time?"

"We thought you were gone. We're so glad you're back."

"We missed you!"

"Guys, guys," Bonnibel hissed, "give her a break, she just woke up. She needs to eat and take a rest so she could heal-"

"Um," I cut her off and she looked at me, "is... is Marshall here?" I asked, my voice finally nat rasping. "Oh, he's been here the whole time," said the boy with bear hat as the cat hopped of the bed, revealing a sleeping Marshall. He laid his arms on the bedside, beside my leg, and his head on his folded arms. His head was slightly facing my direction so I could see half of his face. He looked quiet and peaceful, different from when he found me.

"Forgive him. He just pulled out from a coma. He was supposed to take a rest but he went to see you right after he woke up. He hadn't slept a wink since he found you yesterday," the girl with bunny hat explained. He... he's been watching me all this time?

"I suggest we give them time for themselves. Just the two of them," Flame headed blue guy spoke and they all agreed. As everyone else walked out and bid goodbye, The little rectangular robot climbed up the bed and stood on my lap. "Can I hug you?" He asked sweetly. "Sure," I responded. "Yaay!" He exclaimed as he jumped to me and I caught him in a hug as he giggled, and it was contagious. It made me giggle too.

Flame dude was waking Marshall up, rubbing the back of his head, messing his hair. Marshall shifted and turned to the other direction. He pushed himself off the bed and sat up, rubbing his eyes and looking at Flame. Flame dude pointed at me and I heard him say, "she's awake." Marshall turned around and looked at me as the little robot computer pulled away. "Thank you," he chimed as he smiled at me and hopped off the bed, running away to the others.

My gaze turned back to Marshall, who seemed to stare at me in disbelief. "Marshall..." I whispered. He stood up and walked closer. He sat on the bedside and collapsed on to me, hugging me. I wrapped my arms around his body. "Marshall, what's wrong?"

"I'm sorry," he started, "I couldn't protect you." I could feel the weight on his voice as he apologized. "I'm so sorry, Marcy. This was what I've been avoiding, what I promised would never happen to you. But I failed," I could feel his breathing uneasy and I rubbed his back. "No, Marshall..."

"I should have taken you away from the start. I should have brought you back home when I first saw you in the woods. How could I have been so stupid?! I doubted... I thought I was doing the right thing. But I was risking your life, for what? 'Cause I was so afraid you'd hate me. I didn't realize it was such a small price to pay compared to this. I was a stupid dumb■ss to leave you in the hands of another man, I-"

"Marshall," I said his name a little louder, cutting him off. I stroked the back of his head. I pulled away and ran my hand to his perfectly-shaped jaw and to his cheek, his cheek that was already stained with a streak of teardrop. I wiped his cheek with my thumb.

"Marshall, don't blame yourself. You did everything you can. It was my fault for doubting you."

"But Marcy-"

"Everything's okay now. I'm here with you. You saved me from him," I whispered softly. "Thank you, Marshall." I caressed his jaw and kissed his forehead. He hugged me tight, and we stayed like that for a moment. "I won't ever lose you again, this time I'll never break this promise," he whispered to my neck.

He pulled away and leaned back to plant kisses on my face several times. "You must be hungry, you've grown thin," he stated as he stood up and took the bowl of strawberries from sitting on the drawer table just within arm's reach from the bed. "Oh, I am famished," I expressed as he sat back down the bed, his legs crossed. "Obviously," he chuckled. He handed me the bowl and I placed it on my lap. I picked up a strawberry and sucked its color. "Eat well. You'll need all the energy to heal," he instructed.

These strawberries were delicious! Or was it just because I haven't eaten? A thought suddenly popped in my head and I asked Marshall. "What happened to you after you left?" He looked at me. "I don't really recall. Apparently Finn found me passed out on their roof. I woke up here, didn't realize I had been out for two days. I was food poisoned," he explained.

A wave of sudden realization suddenly hit me, I remembered just now. Ash poisoned Marshall.

As if he read my mind, Marshall began to ask me. "So are you gonna tell me?" I tossed what seemed like the fifth inervated strawberry on the floor beside my head as I looked at him, slightly confused. "Who was this 'Josh' guy?"

I thought for a while. It's okay now, right? He can't touch you anymore. You've healed, and Marshall's here. "Marcy... did you really love him?" He asked another question before I could even answer. "No Marsh," I quickly responded without thinking. It mindlessly slipped out of my mouth - but it was true. "I mean... I never really loved him," I rephrased. Marshall didn't seem to be convinced. Of course he wouldn't, I chose Ash over him when he was begging me to come back to him. That was dumb, really.

"Now that I think of it," I started, "I don't think I really loved him. I think it was just a feeling of security that drawn me attatched to him, since he was the one who brought me into the hospital when I first woke up and especially when he tricked me into believing I was married to him." I bowed my head down. Marshall was listening intently. "I always wondered why I 'married' him. He was a gentleman at first, but turns out, he was actually an ■sshole."

I heaved a sigh. "I was stupid and dumb to get myself tricked, especially for being submissive." Marshall put untangled his legs and put one foot down the floor. "Was it him? Did he do this to you?" He asked. I was somehow afraid to tell Marshall. Trauma? Anger started to fill his eyes. I don't know why, but I was just nervous. There's this feeling that there's going to be huge trouble to say the least. In my second life, I haven't seen Marshall get super mad.

I breathed in and out to relax myself. The thought of his face still haunted me. It brought a feeling of anger and pain. "It... it was Ash." I began to tell him everything.
