(FIONNA'S POV)

I just sat on the top of the treehouse as I watched the night skies. It was beautiful. Oh Finn. Sometimes I just wonder if we're looking at the same moon. It could be possible, right? I miss you.

"Fionna! Spaghetti's ready!" I heard Cake sing from the kitchen. "Coming!" I yelled back. I looked at the scenery again as I stood up. We'll see each other again, Finn. I... know... wait, is that Marshall? With Ashley?! I leaned closer to the edge to take a closer look. It is them! And they seemed to be going on a date. Is Marshall losing his mind?!

I quickly ran down. "Hey, Fio-"

"Not now, Cake!" I exclaimed hurriedly as I ran outside. I got nearer and nearer and stopped just in front of them. "Marshall!"

He looked at me guiltily, his eyes widened and his lips slightly parted. I glared at him, my blood boiling. Ashley gave me the same hateful look as she grabbed Marshall's biceps, pulling herself closer to him.

"Surely you're taking her to the woods to murder her and hide her dead body there, aren't you?" I asked, hoping I was right. In a way.

Ashley scoffed. "Honey, who is this?" She asked as she pointed at me. "Marshall, why is she calling you 'honey'?" I questioned, ignoring Ashley.

Ashley weakly pushed my right shoulder when I got close to Marshall. "Why? Because he's my fiancè!"

I was dumbfounded at Ashley's statement. Fiancè? Could it be true? Marshall is not himself. Why would he even be hanging out with her?! Cake ran to us, panting. "What's going on in here?!" Cake blurted angrily.

"M-Marshall, is that true?" I stuttered, afraid of what he might say next. He only looked down, frowning. He didn't say a word. "Marshall, answer me!" I begged. He slightly nodded his head.

"Marshall, how could you do this?! You're crazy! How could you cheat on Marceline?! And with... this?! Marshall, what's gotten into you?!" I yelled at him.

"Why would you do this Marshall?" I asked again. He only looked down, avoiding everyone's gaze. "You're crazy! Mind your own business, child!" Ashley hissed. I balled my hands into fists, but before they landed on her face, Cake stopped me.

"Cake, what the junk?!"

"Nuh-uh, don't waste your time on this. We're goin' home," Cake said sternly. I forced my fist into Ashley's face but Cake keeps deterring. She stretched back into the house with me. I glared at Marshall and he looked at me sadly. What has gotten into him? Why would he do this?!

"Cake! We need to go back!" I blurted.

"And why? So you could cause nothing but trouble?!" Cake argued.

"Cake, Marshall is cheating on Marcy while she's not here!"

"Baby, look," Cake started to calm down, "I hate Marshall sometimes. But I know he's not that kind of a guy. There must be a reason why he's doing this."

"No Cake, cheating on Marcy is his choice. What reason could that be that he has to cheat, huh?!" I exclaimed, feeling my face heat up.

Cake fell silent. After a few moments, she pushed the silent atmosphere as she looked at me with a forced smile, "Let's eat. Spaghetti's ready."

I decided to refrain from causing further trouble and just ate 'dinner'. I sat at the dining table as Cake prepared the spaghetti and brought it to the table. Dinner was silent. I kept silent but my mind was loud.

I'm not gonna let this slide. I am going to talk to Marshall. I need to know what's going on.

(MARSHALL'S POV)

I opened the door and entered my house. Ashley slumped into the couch as I was just about to close the door slowly. I then looked at her, who was already looking at me with a smile.

"Do we really have to do that?" I asked.

"Do what?" She asked, acting dumb when she knows exactly what I mean. I replied anyway.

"Act all sweet and go on dates?"

"Oh Marshall, why not? We're getting married in a week!" She said with a laugh.

"So? We're only getting married. That still doesn't change how I feel about you. I don't like you. Marceline's still the one I love."

"Blah blah blah, quit complaining!" She exclaimed as she rolled her eyes. "It's not like there's something you can do about it."

It's no use Marshall. Never argue with a woman, especially this one. After a few minutes of silence, she stood up and walked towards me. She put her arms around my neck.

"It's okay Marshall. You'll learn to love me somehow," she whispered. She closed her eyes and leaned close to kiss me. I pushed myself away from her, "Uh, good night."

She ignored the distasteful body language and smiled. "Someday. Good night my King," and with that she left. I threw myself to the couch.

Hold on, Marshall. This is all for Marceline. Do it for her.

"What?" Fionna bitterly asked me as she opened the door. Her face dropped when she saw me.

"What, are you mad at me or something?" I questioned.

"Am I ma-? dude what kind of a question is that?! You're just gonna cheat on Marcy in front of me and then act like nothing's wrong? What's wrong with you?!" She raised her voice, her face red. "What's your deal?!" She asked frustatedly.

"Fionna, look," I began with a mild manner as I grabbed her shoulders, "You're probably thinking that I'm a huge ■sshole for 'cheating' on Marcy, but I'm not. I'm not cheating on her."

"What? Then what was that then?! We need to talk!" she grabbed my wrist and pulled me to the livingroom. We sat on the couch. "Explain," she demanded.

"You see, Mom told me she'd open the portal if I marry Ashley. There's nothing else I can do. I want to see her badly. And I know you feel the same way. I know how badly you want to see Finn too. I know," I whispered the last two words as Fionna looks down to her feet.

"Being away from her for a year hurts so much. I can take the distance, but not hearing from her makes me worry, anxious, uncomfortable. I miss her. So I agreed to mom's condition. But I also threatened to kill myself if she doesn't stick to her word."

"But Marshall, that's dumb! Why did you agree?!"

"There's no other way. Only she can open the portal."

"That's the dumbest decision you've ever made. Yes, you can finally see Marcy, but then you'll be married! You're just going to hurt her Marshall."

"And that's why I need your help."

"My help?"

"Yeah. I really appreciate that you care genuinely for Marcy. Thanks Fionna."

"She's a good friend. And I'm sorry for thinking that you're a cheating jerk. I should have known you weren't that dumb."

"It's okay," I said with a smile. She smiled back. "Now what was that you needed help with?"
