(MARSHALL'S POV)
While I sat on the chair and stared at the cake, I noticed the ground began to shake. Earthquake?! I panicked because I was all alone. I then remembered what Mommy instructed.
Go out into an open area, or hide under a table.
I chose to hide under the table. I'm afraid of anyone seeing me. I hurriedly but carefully took the cake and put it under the table where I also hid. I curled up and placed my hands over my head. Mommy. Mommy. Please come. I need you.
The shaking lasted for a long time. I was very scared. I heard the picture frames, glasses, and utensils being thrown into the ground. After a while, it stopped. And then there was a huge explosion, setting the house on fire. I couldn't save the cake, I couldn't save our pictures. I couldn't save anything else but Hammy. I immediately ran outside, bringing Hammy with me. And there I saw it. Soldiers were everywhere. There was crying and shouting everywhere. The skies were grey. People were getting killed. Bombs rained, gunshots everywhere. Buildings were ruined.
I ran and ran and ran. Mommy, where are you?
Tears never stopped falling.
Where am I going to hide? Where can I be safe? There were many people around me, but I was alone. Mommy, I need you.
I found a house not far from ours. There were no people there so I entered. It had been partially ruined, but there were places to hide. I searched for a spot and found a basement, so I hid there.
I cried myself to sleep, or maybe I lost consciousness. It was already dark when I woke up. I had bruises on my knees and especially my feet.
My stomach grumbled. I had to eat. I wasn't even able to eat the cake this morning, I never even got to taste it.
"Looks like we'll have to go out there, Hammy."
But I thought maybe there were some in the kitchen. I took a peek behind the door, and saw that the house had been almost completely demolished, with only the basement door and two walls standing.
I hugged Hammy. "Here we go, buddy."
I ventured into the night, with the moon, and some burning buildings, lighting up the dark.
It was much quieter now, but there was lots of damage. Mommy, where are you now?
I walked and walked, until I reached the park. There were many trees. I haven't seen anyone, until I had walked deep into the woods. A man stood there, wearing all black.
"S-sir?" I called. He looked at me. He seemed like a good man. I could say he cared.
"What are you doing here, kid? Are you alone?" He bent over to my height.
"Y-yes."
"Where's your mom? Your dad?"
"Dad's dead. Mom left me," I said, tears rolled down, "a-and I haven't seen anyone else."
"Yes, they're heading east."
"S-sir, I'm so hungry."
He held my shoulder. "Really?" He asked. He moved closer, it was like he was going to hug me.
"Me too," he whispered and bit my neck! I dropped Hammy, it hurt! I screeched in pain, and tried my hardest to break free. Mommy! Mommy!
"Hahaha! I haven't eaten since this morning" He screamed, laughing. He pulled away, but was still clutching my shoulders.
"NO! NO! LET ME GO!"
I felt my blood trickling down from my neck. I grabbed his wrists. He kept laughing.
