(PRINCESS BUBBLEGUM'S POV)

"Results should be in tomorrow or the next day," I informed Gumball, who was standing in front of my seat. I lifted my wrist to look at my watch, "or should I say, later." It was already quarter to one in the morning. Gumball sighed as he sat on the chair next to me. "What the heck happened?" He asked.

I looked at the pastel walls of the waiting area. Finn, Jake and Cake remained in Marshall's hospital room. Does Marceline know about this? I wanted to tell Gumball about everything about their situation, but I'm worried about his and everyone else's safety.

Marshall looked like he was dying, but he was so warm - which is not normal for a vampire. I already gave him the necessary medication to soothe his fever, but it was not easy. His body rejects almost everything we injected to him orally and intraveinously. Thankfully it worked out in the end. He is in a stable condition now, but still hasn't woken up.

There wasn't a lot to test. He has no blood pressure, no pulse, no heartbeat. But I conducted a blood test so I could at least know what's causing all this. Sure, he has blood but doesn't have blood pressure, or heartbeat or pulse? Yeah, the anatomy of a vampire's body will always be a mystery.

"Peebs?" Finn called as he stood in the door. "Yes?" I responded. "Marshall's shivering." Without hesitation, Gumball stood up. "I have some shirts he could wear. Let me go get them," he bid as he left to his room. "Wha- is Marshall still shirtless?" I looked at Finn with eyebrows knotted. "Well, yeah," he responded as he sat on the chair that had been occupied by Gumball before he left. "It's so strange that he's sick. What caused this?" He asked. "

"I don't know, and I don't understand either. But we'll know later once we have the results," I informed. "He's going to be okay, right?" He asked again. Worry was etched on his face. "He's going to be alright," I comforted him with a smile. Finn's phone vibrated and he fished it out of his pocket. "Hello? Fi..." he greeted as he placed it on his left ear and stood up. "... oh, I didn't want to wake you up, we're in the Candy Kingdom right now," he stood up and looked at me, mouthing, "excuse me." I nodded and he walked back to the palace hospital.

"Marshall's really sick..." he continued talking until he disappeared out of my sight.

(MARCELINE'S POV)

Ash was off to work. I opened the drawer and fished out the phone he leaves at home. I'm worried about Marshall. He was still sick when he left yesterday, and I feel bad for making him leave like that. He didn't even show up in the woods last night. I dialed his number and placed the phone on my ear.

It rung once... twice... thrice... many times.

"Hey,"

"Marsh-"

"This is Marshall. I'm probably busy right now. Leave a message." Beep. Voicemail? I called him again. His phone rung, and with every ring, I gripped the phone tighter, expecting, waiting, hoping he would pick up.

"Hey, this is Marshall. I'm probably busy right now..." my heart sunk. "... Leave a message." Beep.

"H-hey, Marsh. How are you feeling? I'm sorry about yesterday. I hope you're alright... and... please call me back as soon as possible."

I put down the phone. He's probably getting some rest. Right, he should. I should see him later in the woods. He might show up. Then, I'll know how he's feeling.

The day dragged on, and it seemed to pass longer than any other day, as if making me wait and suffer longer, but all I could do is wait. Ash went home earlier than usual, but luckily I had already prepared his dinner before he could come home. Saved myself from his nagging.
