(MARCELINE'S POV)
I rushed home. I can't believe what just happened. I can't accept it. I finally got to see Simon after almost a millenium. I wish he could stay forever. But the cost... It's too much. He can't stay for long.
"Marceline?"
"Honey are you okay?"
Marshall and dad's voices were muffled behind the door. I don't want them to see me like this. I don't want them to see these tears cascading down my cheeks. So I won't answer.
"Marceline, open up!" Knock knock knock.
"Get the keys," I heard dad mumble followed by Marshall's "Okay." You idiots. The keys are right here.
I hugged my knees to my chest as I just wept, my back leaning against the door.
"Marcy please," Marshall pleaded from the other side of the door, "What's wrong?" Concern laced every word. "Just... just leave me be," I stuttered, loud enough for them to hear.
For a while there silence filled the atmosphere. I heard shifting behind the door, until Marshall spoke again. "I'll be right here for you Marcy. Just call me when you need me," Marshall said solemnly. I could picture him looking down as he usually does at times like this. Another voice spoke.
"We're right here Marceline. Marshall and I will wait for you. Take your time," said dad. And then silence.
That actually made the corners of my lips tug up. At least I have them. It's just sad that I can't be with Simon anymore. He's stuck in the farthest corner of the mind of a pityful guy who can never learn to be happy.
He used to call Betty his princess. And since he's changed, he can't even remember his old self. And he thinks he'll find happiness capturing princesses.
I just want Simon back.

I woke up lying on the floor. Did I really cry myself to sleep last night? I sat up and felt the sticky dried tears on my face. I immediately floated to the bathroom and turned on the lights. I twisted the faucet open and water streamed down to the sink. I cupped my hands and splashed the water to my face. I turned off the faucet and wiped my face with the towel hung nearby.
I opened the door and floated out of the bedroom to see Marshall and Dad sitting by either side of the door, sleeping.
Marshall had his legs stretched in front of him and his arms crossed below his chest. His head was tilted, leaning on the doorframe. On the other side, dad had already fallen to the floor, sleeping on his side while his legs were still bent. Schwabl snuggled himself beside dad's chest. Looks like Schwabl found dad's amulet. It was lying on the floor beside them.
I smiled at the sight. They really take this seriously. And because of that, I felt happy. Now that Simon can't take care of me, at least they're here for me.
I floated towards Dad, bent down and gave him a kiss on the temple of his head. That woke Schwabl up. He got up on four feet and wagged his little tail. I rubbed his head and took the amulet. I then turned to Marshall and kissed his cheek. I can't thank these guys enough.
With Schwabl tailing behind me, I floated to the kitchen. I made coffee for dad and fried bacon for Marshall. I know how he loves these so much as a kid. I got some apples for myself.
I put five bacon strips on Marshall's plate and two on Schwabl's bowl. After a few minutes, two men came to the dining room. "Marceline?" The pale vampire uttered my name.
Marshall came floating towards me and gave me a kiss on the forehead. "Are you alright now?" He asked, concerned. Dad sat on his side of the table. "Would you tell us what's wrong? We're ready to listen," he stated.
"I'm okay now," I smiled as I sat on the table. I told them everything during breakfast. And they were ever understanding, it overwhelms me in a good way. I stood up and gave them both a big hug, wrapping my arms around their necks, bringing us three closer together.

Marshall and Dad fight less now, and I'm glad. They're gradually becoming friends. Well not yet, but they're getting there.
I wish Marshall's mom would at least accept me. I'm not one to beg, but it somehow feels bad that your boyfriend's mom would do everything to get rid of you and keep his son away from you.
Although I don't show everyone that I feel that way, I feel bad.
But I shouldn't be thinking about that now. Tomorrow is Marshall's birthday.
He's been out all day, he didn't really mention what he's up to or where he's going, and dad's on the TV, half asleep with Schwabl on his lap. With nothing to do, I grabbed Marshall's single-bladed axe-guitar and positioned it on my lap. I began strumming on the strings.
"Lately I've been, I've been losing sleep,
Dreamin' about the things that we could be
And lately I've been, I've been prayin' hard,
Said no more countin' dollars we'll be countin' stars,Yeah we'll be countin' stars,"
I softly rocked my head and tapped my foot to the rythm as I brushed my fingers across the strings. I just randomly picked out a song that I feel like singing at the moment.
Halfway through the song, my phone buzzed in my pocket. I stopped playing and fished out my phone. Marshall was calling. I answered.
"Where are you?" I asked sternly. "Are you mad?" He dodged.
"Well, you were out the whole day without even telling me," I reasoned. "That's why I called. I'm in the Candy Kingdom Baby. I'm sorry I didn't tell you. Everyone else is here," he explained.
"Should I be there?" I asked. "No, just stay there. I'm coming home anyway," he answered. "But I wanted to hang out," I pouted. I heard him chuckle, "You're so cute. It's okay, let's just talk when I get there okay?"
"Okay," I hung up. I placed down his guitar and floated to our bedroom. Soon enough, Marshall arrived home. "Marcy," he called as he sat on the bed beside me. "You can't just ditch me like that you know," I grumbled.
"I'm sorry, but I couldn't just wake you up," he reasoned. He looked at me and spoke again, "I'm sorry," he apologized innocently. He looked so cute, I had to resist the urge to smile.
"That was totally uncalled for. I just happened to pass by the Candy Kingdom on my way home when Bonnie invited me. We talked for a while until everyone else was there. They insisted I celebrate tomorrow outside the palace," he explained.
"Why?" I asked.
"I don't really know, but I guess it's fine, right? We won't have to clean up after," he chuckled, which made me laugh as well. "It's alright," I answered.
"Anyway," he began as he held my hand, "I'm sorry for leaving you alone a while ago."
"I'll let you slip this time, birthday boy," I chuckled as I nudged his nose.
