HEY!!! I'm so very sorry for the late update but I hope this was worth it. Phew. It was a long chapter but yeah I'm happy that I'm finally done with it :D

Chapter-24 And then he came.

He never said a word to me again.

And it felt as though I never existed for him, which was a little saddening but I guess I just had to deal with it. He has been acting so strange these days. I can't fathom what he's up to. And he says he's not scared, when I can clearly see it in his eyes. But could I really blame him when strange things are actually happening around us? First Ava, then Alexandrus and then that punching bag and the potion burning my hand. This is all so messed up and I can't find a way out of it.

Moreover the fact that Warren, who claims to be my 'mate', doesn't even consider me or my feelings. He is just so damn busy being himself. He never tells me anything, whether or not it regards me. But of course I shouldn't forget that he never wanted a mate. He's just after power, the title of the king.

While I'm just a key to his goal. Nothing else.

We pull over to the mansion, without a word being exchanged between us. I quickly shuffled out of the car, not wanting to be near him since his presence had suddenly became stifling.

I didn't spare him a glance as I practically ran to the house but stopped abruptly as soon as I caught a glimpse of 'her'. My heart thudded loudly in my chest as my legs were on the verge of giving out. I couldn't breathe properly.

What the hell was she doing here?

I felt Warren's presence beside me but I just couldn't find it in me to look away from her deep brown eyes and the way she looked me up and down, as if I was a threat. Surprisingly, Warren gripped m hand in his and carried me inside, his touch was somewhat relieving but I still couldn't ignore the one who had caused me so much pain that one time.

Ava.

"NO! I don't want to go anywhere near her! Let me go!" I snatched my hand back, horrified at the memory of her. Warren whipped his head in my direction, not at all confused at my reluctance to go near Ava, who was now standing at a good distance away from me.

"Trust me, I won't let her touch you," his grey eyes dazzled with sincerity and somehow I just couldn't just not trust him, even after all he'd done to me. I took a deep breath and met Ava's gaze.

"W-what do you want from me now?" I asked, trying to look as though her presence didn't affect me the way it actually did. But the mere stuttering gave it all away.

Her eyes weren't warm or welcoming at all but just the perfect to scare a human away. Her chocolaty brown hair cascaded down to her shoulders in waves and her lips were pressed in a thin line. She wasn't too old but neither too young. Just the same from how I remember her.

"I called her," Warren said.

"But why? You do know what she's capable of, don't you?"

"She's a witch, the answer to all my questions about what's wrong with you," he explained in a confident tone to which I couldn't help but stare at him wide-eyed. Avalana was a witch?! A freaking witch! Goodness, there are just so many creatures that exist in this world, fabulously hidden from the eyes of the ordinary humans. There's just so much more to this other world and this time I wasn't even that surprised.

Now this explains how she was able to hurt me.

"What's wrong with me?! There's nothing wrong with me. I'm just fine and for your kind information, this witch of yours tried to kill me! Do you know what that means? That means she'll never help me because she thinks of me as some sort of an enemy," I finished off in a tone a little louder than I'd expected. But I couldn't help it since it was the result of suppressed emotions.
