Chapter-37 You're always surprising me.

Abigail's POV

Darkness was all I could see and find as soon as my eyes fluttered open.

My entire body ached like I'd managed to run for hours and hours without stopping. And the fact that I had a massive headache wasn't helping either. It felt like someone was repeatedly hitting my head with a hammer or something. Although my eyes were extremely heavy and muscles exceedingly strained, the fact that I was probably in alien territory, persuaded me to sit up, with much effort might I add.

Where was I even?

I desperately wanted to figure out my current location but the dimness didn't allow me to actually make out anything in the supposed room. My heart thudded wildly inside my chest as I clutched my head, giving it a slight massage to somehow get rid of that awful headache.

Everything weird always has to happen to me, isn't it?

Slowly, I got out of the covers, my feet immediately landing on a plush and soft mattress. It took me about a 15 minutes struggle to find my way around the place, and I was pretty sure I'd managed to knock off half the decorative pieces or objects present in the room. How lovely.

But I could care less about it right now. I'm sure Warren would be able to replace them with the amount of money that he has.

I opened a door, and my vision was immediately blinded by the hallway light that was beaming too bright at me, the intensity causing a stinging sensation in my eyes. Screw the light. Squinting, I continued on my way down the hall, the wooden planks squeaking under my steps and my heart sank to my stomach as the realization of the fact that there was absolutely no soul in sight in this house dawned on me.

And last time I checked, I was with Warren in the car and-Oh goodness.

It hit me like a ton of bricks that I'd discovered that Blake, my best friend was actually Markos, someone who had been hired by Markos to capture me. I was automatically flooded with disheartenment. But no that wasn't the end of it because if I recalled correctly, I had also managed to turn into the girl with violet eyes, powerful and dangerous at the same time.

I gulped audibly, my head spinning with all the memory and thoughts; a sense of disquietude and fear of what I could've committed in that state becoming overwhelming.

With shaky legs, I began to descend down the staircase using the wall as a support and noticed a familiar kind of setting come into my view. I've been here before. Frowning, I continued to take cautious steps down the stairs but as I was about to move down another step, a sort ofblurriness clouded my vision and I couldn't do much to stabilize myself as my foot slipped; a yelp escaping past my lips on instinct.

A pair of arms came around my waist, steadying me almost instantly and thereby prevent the fall I was about to experience, which I'm sure would've caused a terrible damage to my bones. I shuddered at the thought and concentrated on the stupefying scent that bombarded me. Wait what? It felt like the freshness of a forest and it was probably the best of smells I'd ever come across.

As my vision cleared, my eyes were met with dazzling grey ones and I realized how close they were. My heart did a weird somersault upon recognizing the person. His eyes bored into my own, his lips set in a straight line and a frown etched upon his face as she held me close to himself, his warmth and fragrance engulfing me whole.
