CHAPTER-3 GOING SOMEWHERE?

A dull headache was the first thing I had registered when I woke up about thirty minutes ago. It was followed by this painful stinging sensation in my eyes when I first attempted to open them and in addition to that, my neck hurt because of the awkward angle that it had been resting in for a total of another thirty minutes into the drive. To sum it all up, I have been unconscious for half an hour, awake for the other half an hour and most importantly I have been abducted and sat in an expensive looking car which is on its way to God knows where.

"Are you okay? Here, you can have some coke if you want," Callum asked from the driver's seat, switching his gaze between the road and me as he proceeded to pass me the black colored can.

"What makes you think I'm okay? Of course I'm not okay. I'm far from it. And I don't want your coke," I fumed, turning my face away from him to take a look at the never-ending patches of greenery, the tall and giant trees creating a breathtaking view if only one were to look closely and had the ability to admire the beauty of nature.

Callum sighed beside me for the umpteenth time as if he was tired of having to deal with a teenager's tantrums which was so not the case right now I can assure you, because I had every right to be upset and angry at being deceived and kidnapped, for a reason that was completely unknown to me.

"I have nothing to offer you. I'm just a nobody then why would you take me of all people? Why me?" My voice came out fiercer than I had imagined but at the same time I couldn't deny the fear that continued to torment me. The fear of what was going to happen to me, to my family.

"You should probably stop stressing about it, Abigail. I promise you, you're in no danger," Callum repeated and all I could do was stare blankly at him.

"Says the one who kidnapped me. Are you for real?"

"I told him not to give me this task. I suck at this, clearly," he muttered under his breath as he concentrated on the road ahead, his jaw clenching. I certainly did not know who he was talking about but it sounded like the mafia boss to me, that is if they were a part of a gang. The thought alone had me shivering out of fear.

"What can I do to make you feel better?" he spoke up after a moment of silence, a defeated look on his face.

I offered him a brief glance, "Why don't you start by telling me about why you've abducted me?"

He began to shake his head, "I told you-"

"If you want to talk to me, this is the only way," I shrugged, maintaining a somewhat brave exterior to try and get some information out of him before I planned an escape.

He sighed deeply.

"Like I've told you already, you're extremely important to us and we are going to protect you with our life. We need you as much you need us, but you won't understand that right now. But one day you will. And we may have started off on the wrong foot but there was no way you would've come willingly. But once we get there and you know everything, you'll be free to choose what you want," he explained, his eyes holding some sort of hope in them, a longing perhaps but I couldn't know for sure.

"And if you chose to return here and carry on with your life, we'll let you leave. We'll not force you into anything," he finished, his voice seeming heavy. His words held a deeper meaning, I could tell and suddenly he seemed genuine, harmless, almost like I could depend on him but I still didn't know if I really could.

It could all be an act.

"You're confusing me," I commented, striving to decode what he'd meant.
