"The harder the BATTLE, the sweeter the VICTORY."
-Les Brown

Corey.

After taking a break after our first game, we were warming up for our second game. Watching this other team practice, made it seem like they would be an easy team to beat. The players weren't so good in their peppering.

Although I shouldn't really say much until we actually start playing them, but I sure hope we win. I really want that boys trophy.

Five minutes went by of warming up before we were all ready in our positions. Unfortunately the other team got serve.

"Let's get a sideout guys!" I had told the team.

Getting in the ready position, I stayed on my toes ready to move if I needed to if the ball came to me. The guy who served, it went straight to Noah which was the libero.

"Got it." he said passing it to Alexander who set it up for Levy.

"Shoot!" Levy yelled as he was ready for the ball. He had did his approach and slammed the ball down, which went to the ground.

Point for us!

Alex went to the end line ready to serve. Now he had a wicked jump serve. Well besides Keith, but they both have a different way of hitting the ball.

Serving the ball over, it went short to their setter, making it so someone else had to be setter. Which the guy who tried to set it up, the ball ended up falling through his fingers and hitting his head.

Another point for us!

They were way too easy. Whoever made up the bracket must have randomly placed teams because we were kicking their ass.

The score was 22-15. We were definitely killing it.

It was my turn to serve.

"You got it Cor!" I heard my father yell from the stands. I smiled, happy that my parents were here supporting me. Well Jessica too, but I'm the one playing right now as I saw Jess sitting next to my mom and dad.

I took a deep breath, sending the ball over the net with ease. They had passed the ball up to their setter, who set it up middle. Regardless this team was easy to beat, they had this one middle hitter who always hit so hard that it would slip through our blockers hands.

"Get ready guys! Good hit!" I reminded the team as we were all ready for it.

The ball came down hard and even though we tried to block it, once again, it slipped past our fingers and down to the ground.

22-16.

"It's alright guys! Let's get a sideout!" yelled coach Joseph.

Grinding my teeth, I got ready in my position. I really hated losing. And this middle hitter is getting on my nerves.

The server had served the ball over, a float serve, which tricked us out as it went in between Noah and I. You know how when the ball floats in between you and another player and you go to get it but they do that also? Yeah, well that's what Noah and I were doing. Until he finally had the guts and go for it.

"Mine!" Noah yelled as he barely got to the ball in time. Which made the ball shank to the right side of the court. Alex ran to the ball as he had passed it behind him. Since he passed the ball to the back row, I went and hit a D.

The ball soared over the net, hitting the back row. The libero had passed the ball to their setter, who set it for their right side.

Getting ready for the ball to come over, angling myself in case it came to me, which it did. I passed it to Alex who set it middle for Keith, who nailed the ball over the net, sliding past the blockers fingers.

Yes!

Point for us. 23-16.

Toby went to the end line to serve as it was his turn.

"Just two more points Tob!" I yelled at him which he game a cocky smirk back. He knew he could get these next couple points.

True to his smirk, he served the ball over easily and we got ready for the ball to come back over to us.

We had volleyed back and forth  for about three times before I knew we got the point.

24-16.

"Game point bro." said Keith.

We could do this, I knew it.

He served the ball over to their right back, as he passed the ball to their setter. He had set a middle,  which hit the ball down at Noah. He dug the ball up before rolling back up into position. Alex set it to Levy who pounded the ball down.

Unfortunately, their libero was able to pass the ball up. The setter set to their outside, who hit the ball, but we were able to block the ball putting it back to their side. What we didn't expect was for them to get the ball back up.

After that player who got a pancake, they freed the ball back over to us. Noah passed it to Alex, who set it right side to Keith. He hit the ball so hard it went across court to the guy in the number one spot.

But the guy was able to pass it regardless it bounced partially off of his chest. The setter had to run outside of the court to pass the ball, who their back row hit it back at us.

I passed the ball to Alex who tipped the ball over, tricking the other team, making the ball land on the court.

Point for us.

25-16.

"Whoohoo!" we all yelled as we huddled together. We gave the other team handshakes and went over to coach.

"Great job guys! We have another rest before we move on. If we win the next game, we go to the championship round. So keep it up guys!" he said giving us a round of high fives.

"You played great bro." said Jessica as she approached me with mom and dad behind her.

"Thanks sis."

"Well I gotta go, my turn next." she laughed before jogging to the other side of the gym.

"You played great son, I'm proud of you." my dad said as he clasped his hand on my back.

"Thanks dad, means a lot."

"Now are you glad we sent you here as well?" asked my mom with a smirk.

"Ha, ha." I faked laugh. "But yes, thanks for sending me here. I realized how much I loved playing."

"And it seems like your attitude has changed as well." mom observed.

"Yeah, yeah. I changed." I waved them off as they started laughing.

Just two more games and that boys trophy was ours.
